Polixa Metropolitan- a revisiting

does anyone want me to start of the Polixa metropolitan RP again? I think it had potential, and I would be happy to start it up again.

for those who are unaware of what happened, Polixa metropolitan was an RP set in a fantasy city, where magic and technology fused and created cars, planes, street-lamps, and so on. Here, players would take the roles of police officers, either beat officers or detectives, as they patrol the city searching out various criminal gangs, killers and terror cells. The city of Polixa was very much based on my home town of london, in that there were areas like East hutten (or Eshu) as the entertainment district, and Ilsington, which contained a number of places like the University of Polixa and the huge football stadium. All of the races filled in for various ethnic groups within the city, including Indian Trolls, Celtic Ogres, Italian halflings, Oriental Elves, Nordic dwarves and Mexican Kobolds.

Unfortunately, the RP was short lived, partly due to my own stubbornness to play in it and not oversee it like I should have, but also due to a rather vicious troll attack on the HC at the time, and the RP was unfortunately one of the RPs hit.

However, I am willing to bring it back. I've made a few revisions to how the game is run. For one thing, I've added "Officer Origins" that allow for players to decide where there officer comes from and what perks they gain from it. I've also added a few more races and a good deal more detail into characters people would meet around the city, City landmarks, and the zeitgeist of the city when people are playing.

If people want me to bring it back, I am more than willing to run the game and manage it. I'm just checking and telling you it may not be up for a while (as I have finals and all). Hope people are interested, and if anyone has any feed back from the first run, please don't hesitate to voice it.

thank you all.

I've been waiting for an RP to join again, since the one I tried to set up did not do as well as I had hoped.
So, I'm certainly interested.

I can't assure that I'll be active for the next week or so (limited internet time), but if you put out the information on this RP then I'll gladly join.

ok, might as well.

knowing the city will be important, so I've got a brief "Tourists guide" to the city, hope you enjoy.

Polixa is the biggest city within the world of Arotha, a centre for trade and commerce, capital of one of the largest nations, a religious centre for all manner of creeds, a melting pot of culture and ideas, and possibly one of the most diverse cities in the world. However, it’s not always pleasant. Crime is rampant, overcrowding is unbearable, and culture clashes happen almost three times a week. Fortunately, there is the Polixa Metropolitan Police, whose job is to enforce the rule of law in the city. You are one of said policemen, either as a beat officer, or a detective, helping to make the city safe for people living within it.

Polixa is divided into several sections. The rivers of the Pol and the Lixa snake through the city, meeting the estuary in the docklands.

Central
located in the centre of the city, which is where the business, politics and commerce happens. This was formerly the old city of Polan, and most of the buildings reflect the cities history.
- Minister gardens- the centre for government and the houses of the parliament and the senate.
- Dragonspine Road- the area where the largest commercial shops are located. Included here is the famous “Pawlwr Y Draigg Du”, where the rich and famous come to buy rare and exotic items from Draigg du, “Vatel Row” there the best suits are made for those with money to spend, or the “Arcanar’s”, the finest official proprietor of magical tomes, artefacts and outfits.
- The aquatic markets- Located in the area where the Pol and the Lixa meet, these canal markets provide all manner of interesting tip-bits and oddities.
- The Arimathium- the area where the business stock exchange is held, with clarks, accountants and businessmen congregate and analyse their shares and money.

East Hutten or Eshu,
the entertainment district, including everything from night clubs, pubs, and fighting pits to restaurants, theatres and art galleries. Located on the Lixa river at the south east of the city.
- Illsington- the academic and social heart of the city which houses the Polixa university, the Polixa Museums, the National library, the Arotha National theatre, the Turtle theatre, Illsington park and Gengally stadium. This is where most of the academics and students hang out, in various states of lucidity.
- Fountain heights- the clubbing centre of the city, where a new music artist, pit fighting star, dance craze and cocktail is made every minute. Particular hotspots include the Grove night-club, Beholder movie theatre, Gladius’s fighting arena, and the Grapevine Bar.
- Banquet plaza- The centre of high quality food from around the world, finding a good meal near banquet plaza isn’t hard, and the smells and the sounds of cooking food can drive anyone to hunger. Here you will find Elven sushi and wok bars, Ogre burger houses, Halfling Pizzarias, dwarven gastro pubs and Troll curry dens.
- The point- formerly just a block of flats, but the point has become a fashionable area for young artists and talent to perform, with underground theatres and installations, as well as a few bars including “Grumpy morgan’s”, who brew the strongest beer in the city.

The Docklands where the ships and trade come into the city to the west of the city. Formerly the centre of production for most of Arotha, the various factories have been renovated into warehouses and storage.
- The 6 Titans- 6 huge old factories, known to be the biggest producers of coal, textiles, steel and magikium in the country. 2 of them are currently being used for storage, but the other 4 are simply left abandoned, though still standing.
- Vulkan’s Anvil- an old steelmill operated by Golems. The mill has carried on producing steel for generations, even when the owner of the mill committed suicide one hundred years ago. It’s now mostly a tourist attraction.
- Bluejay wharf- The cities main port, where the majority of the ships come through, with goods and people.
- “Bucaneers bay!”- the cities historic port, where a number of classic ships have been restored and are on display.

The Quarters
the living areas of the city, located just north of city. Originally divided into sections, the architects couldn’t have comprehended how much of it would change.
- Sparrows-  the rich apartment district, home too many of the rich, famous and powerful around the city. Located relatively centrally compared to the others, it’s home to  penthouses, fine houses and gentile terraced houses, and always kept nice, pristine and clean, even magically enchanted so particular weather doesn’t enter into it.
- Glendour- the suburbs of the city, home to the professionals, merchants and the middle class members of society. Located just around the Pol river, It’s full of converted boat-houses, terraced houses, small blocks of flats and bungalows, made new by fashionable architects and the price of city living.
- The Gutter, the city slum, home to most of the city’s population, located on the outskirts, with  a large section intersecting with the docklands. Filled with large blocks of concrete flats, the Gutter has ended up being very segregated into ethnic communities, with often entire blocks being one race. the Gutter has it's own police station located within it.

Kotsol
the cities main religious district, Kotsol is, by far, the smallest district in Polixa, sitting somewhere between Eshu and Central.
- St Caiphas’s- one of the largest cathedrals in the world, the Cathonian Cathedral of St Caiphas’s is an enormous building and a massive tourist trap, home to a number of relics, texts and confession booths.
- Wat Phra Konix- located on the waters edge is an elven shrine, given to the city of Polixa after the Arothian/ Eruvienese war, a beautiful place to relax and meditate, open to all walks of life.
- Mandira Purvajom- originally a troll temple to their ancestors, Mandira Purvajom is unique in that it’s opened it’s doors to other faiths, including Dwarven, Iskranian, Jovenism and, most recently, Ogre spirit worship.

The undercity
the ruins of the previous city, as well as containing the city’s sewer system as well as the Kennel, the cities main prison. No-one is quite sure who or what still lurks down there, but the list includes angry dryads, tribes of proto-dwarves, at least six armies of golems, several dooms day weapons, cults, monsters, forgotten gods and at least three lost postmen.

Each of these sections has their own police station, with a resident captain that answers to the various requests of the individual sections. They also have their own hospitals, communities and so on.

hope people enjoy this.

of the 11 races that people are able to play as, only 7 of them are "Presentable", humans, elves, dwarves, ogres, halflings, trolls and gremlins. Orcs and Ghuls are semi completed, Merfolk and kobolds are nowhere near completion.

police origins play a more crucial role in how your character will operate on a mechanical level, though, and those are completed so I could post those up.
