Some Editor Questions
I have started learning the map editor but there is much I still do not understand and the editor isn't all that intuitive so I'm going to need some occasional help
For starters, can you set a hero to be your avatar if the hero has not been set as FactionHero? If not, can you make him gain reputation? Do quests only work for avatars or any hero? Because I saw the following in the decumentation:
Give / Show Reward - This parameter determines whether the reward will be given to the Avatar automatically upon quest completion.
I'm working on a duel map so I'm trying to find the best approach I decided on setting non-random forts so that you already have your native x weeks army in garrison and two specific heroes - one for might and one for magic - for each faction so that I can control which specials are available for the duel. I'll have to figure out how to give them a starting level and 1000 reputation points whether by quest, trigger or through editor settings if possible. I'll gladly welcome any advice on map design.
EDIT:
Currently Quests cannot be used in Multiplayer maps. This means you can only activate Quests for the human player (Player 1 by default).
ARGH!

Me and Mikkelgro intend on making a tutorial for the HoMM6 map editor once he comes back from vacation actually.

Yes, there are some stupid script limitations currently in place. What I decided to do was come out with one map (Former Friends) to learn how to use the editor and go from there. I admit though, there was not much reason to keep going with it, I found that feedback was virtually non-existent and it's hard to write stories without the campaign editor.
That being said, a couple of things I found helpful was just trying to recreate specific parts of the official maps. Once I realized how everything was built up from smaller pieces it simply became a matter of practice.
To answer your question though, I have not found a way to give secondary heroes reputation points. That being said, it is possible to create secondary heroes who are of blood/tear reputations. Unfortunately, scripts are still pretty screwy on multiplayer maps. I succeeded in getting a "witch hut" going. I also discovered that it is possible to disable town/fort/building conversion via scripts. I found this to make things more interesting.
@ Miru, I've actually thought about doing this. If you need any help, let me know.
Edit: Is there somewhere for map makers to share ideas/tips and tricks/screenshots of maps-in-progress or is that branch of the community dead? I personally loved using the editor, there was so much you could do with it.
