Torchlight 2

If you remember my review, I complained a lot about Torchlight 1, however here, they pretty much fixed EVERY complaint from my long list (especially interface based complaints) - I'm amazed. No more cluttered equipment, horrible inventory screen, buffs that obstruct vision, unnecessary amount of text on the screen, "stealth" life/mana globes, and much more. I'll probably do a review one day.

It has its faults, but it's a very solid (and very cheap) H&S that is considerably better than its predecessor. Torchlight 1 was a crappy game. Torchlight 2 is a good game that is actually very enjoyable.

If you like H&S, I highly recommend this game.

I only played beta Diablo3 and I had more fun with Torchlight 2 beta (and full game too).

played it for a while. a pretty decent Diablo clone. Like the cartoonish graphics too. Really well made IMO.

Except orig. storyline (HoMM5's is better) and "vanquisher" which was very annoying, and repetitive gameplay, and low brain requirements.

No, it's horrible like any other H&S, Diablo3 included

That's like saying First Person Shooters suck by default since you only shoot people and nothing more

No, I did not mean that. FPS require being careful (finding cover, checking is there more enemies before going further...), in Torchlight, you can almost always just charge in enemies and kill loads of them, unless it is played on Hard/Very Hard or Hardcore. Also, FPS have many different fields, not one which is used four times in row.

And what's Serious Sam, Doom, or Duke Nukem then? Not an FPS?

Not every FPS is a cover shooter. Run&gun were classic, awesome games. Primitive? maybe, but who hasn't heard about Doom franchise?

If you charge on elite with weak build, the first monster will kill you.

Also, yes, that's how Hack&Slash genre in general is played. If you don't like the genre, it's okay, but don't say the game's bad - it's pretty good for H&S family.

Well, that's truth, I'm not in that game type. I prefer strategy/logic games (although I sometimes play FPS).

Okay, honestly, the game's not as good as I initially thought.

There's literally 0 thought process put between difficulty. It's either childish, or extreme (depending on class, mostly, due to overpowered/useless builds).

The game is like TQ on steroids. If you're playing "Elite" difficulty, expect either to crawl at slow speed, or to die a lot. That's because (unless you're playing engineer and using the broken forcefield spell) 99% monsters in this game can one-shot you if they score a critical. Which happens way too often.

So unless you like to struggle against RNG, I recommend waiting for patches or mods. The game's fun to beat, worth 20 bucks, but that's about it.

Torchlight 2 is defenitely a game you should buy.
For various reasons.

1: It has coop and LAN. Thats a plus for people who can play it with somebody nearby. No constant online connection to play offline has become a feature nowadays.
2: it fixes everything what torchlight 1 did wrong.
3: it has mods. The first one had lots of lots of mods.
4: Extreme longevity. For 20€, you get a game that lasts  very long and is fun. I actually feel bad that I did not try all classes in the first game.
5: Its both available on steam and retail.
6: Will probably play on anyones computer. (Thats a good thing) Sure, the graphics may be a outdated but you dont play these type of games for graphics.
Diablo 3 has better graphics though but it has many other issues.

This game is a worth a look and you should get it.

There's something weird about TL2. It seems fun, but the moment you think of grand H&S games of the past, like Dungeon Siege 2, TL2 seems almost laughably short and somewhat disappointing.

The engine feels really limiting and archaic, mostly. Another game where walking south raises difficulty a lot because mobs can actually attack you before you can see them.

It's strange that the only isometric game that doesn't have this problem is Diablo2. It's been 12 years, after all...

I find it weird that Dungeon Siege-like 3D was dropped out in favor of the catastrophic fixed-angle camera in pretty much all subsequent H&S games.

Think I'm going to give this game a real look-through this comming weekend.
I can't really come up with a reason, I haven't sunk my teeth into this yet other than it seems really fast paced - Almost to the brink of one asking for a "cool your jet's, Eddie " skill of sorts
Anyway....Here's a little video from the ( Think I read it on reddit ) first guy who handed in rock solid evidence of duping in D3
