A Tribute to Beloved Cartoon Characters
1. The Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill)
Just off-the-wall, demented fun, is what the cartoon Joker is. To have a comic-book villain brought to life, in such a great way, by a great man, with a great voice... I lose my words, here. *sniff* I don't even care that he was never as vicious as he was in the comic books. I don't even care that his character was aimed at kids. I don't even care that he had to tiptoe past the sissy censors. His dark light shown through. He was a black star, with a black hole for a heart. You will be fondly remembered, Mr. cartoon J.
2. Invader Zim (with sidekick Gir) (of Invader Zim, voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz and Rosearik Rikki Simons)
One of the best cartoon duo's that cartoonists, nay, the world can offer. As you are both creations of Jhonen Vasquez the great and powerful, you are bright stars in a mostly dim galaxy of more recent comic entertainment. You have both pushed the boundaries of good taste and cursed censorship, by actually torturing and even killing off other nameless cartoon characters in your little cartoon world, or having your spawn do it for you. The shenanigans by you two were hilarious, and not in any way, the least of your delightful attributes. ALL HAIL ZIM!
3. Ren Hoek and Stimpy (of Ren and Stimpy, voiced by John Kricfalusi and Billy West)
An angry, emaciated chihuahua? A stupid, obese cat? Hmmm... This comedic cartoon couple didn't pave the way, they ARE the way. However long after Laurel and Hardy, but much more *ahem* refined, this pitiful pair, these couple of contusions, have been making parents sick to their stomachs, while simultaneously making children squeal with delight, when presented with their kooky antics. Ren, you are my favorite. I relate to you the most, because many times I feel like a Ren in a world of Stimpy's. Don't tell Stimpy I said that! I love him as well, in his own stupidly loveable way.
4. Uncle Ruckus(of The Boondocks, voiced by Gary Anthony Williams)
Mr. Ruckus, sir, my hat is off to you. Not only did you face adversity by becoming one with the hatred that was spewed at you, but you did so in a way that still makes me laugh every time your persona plays out in my head. God Bless You, you hilariously racist Uncle Tom. You will always have a warm spot in my heart.
5. Wakko Warner (of Animaniacs, voiced by Jess Harnell)
You were the weirdest Warner, Wakko. And, consequently, the funniest. You ate whatever you felt like eating(even if it was inedible); you burped whatever song you felt like burping; you defied physics as readily as any other cartoon character great; and in your own special way, you made me love you. Your antics will never be forgotten by me. Cheers, you delightful little dog/whatever hybrid.
6. Spongebob Squarepants (voiced by Tom Kenny)
Spongebob Squarepants. A name that made me want to puke when I first heard it. People raged about your show. Children kept trying to convince me to watch it, that your show was "really really funny". I did what I could to resist your sugary goodness. I kicked. I screamed. I called my mommy to tell on you. And in the end, you know what? I fell in love. Because you, Mr. Spongebob Squarepants, are the kid in all of us. You remind me so much of myself during my childhood; so full of energy, so incredibly annoying. But your good humor, naivety, dedication to your friends and the things you love, show us all that that kid, that we thought we left behind years ago, still lives in all of us. Through you, we get to remember ourselves for what we have forgotten. You, Spongebob, are what cartoons are all about.

I am not sure if this has been done - a theme song closely related to Shafts - but it would make sense.
