You don't need to, that's my point. Getting provoked and responding to it serves nothing but dent your reputation and dent your self worth. If you can prove you are bigger than the people who provoke you, prove that you can overcome being provoked, then you will feel respect for yourself and in turn people will start to respect you.

That might just be true in real life. But on the internet, people are just being jerks because they can. I can't ignore that.

If people see that they can get a rise of you then they will do whatever it takes to do just that. It's like the old bully situation. They do it because they know you react. As soon as you start ignoring them they stop. They thrive on the attention they get from you if you do react to their provoking. Be the better man and just ignore it.
You seem to like this forum and frequent it a lot. Wouldn't you feel a bit stupid if you did respond to somebody and got banned as a result of it? I know what the answer would be to the question: Do you regret having all those penalties but I think you should regret it. It reflects badly on the character that you know you are. I'm sure you're not a mean spirited guy, I'm sure you're quite pleasant and nice. It would be a shame for others to be the reason for your downfall on this forum, a place that you seem to enjoy coming to.
By reacting you also do nothing but give them satisfaction. Wouldn't it be good for your own well being on this forum if you were to just ignore them and feel the bigger person?
Trust me, like I've said, I've been there myself. I have been silenced a few times, been given multiple penalties, had my account hacked by a former member and a former mate of mine, given people crap and been the instigator of many arguments here. I've fallen out with people, I've been on the receiving end of abuse from members, I've seen it all and believe me, it dented my reputation on here for a few years. People just knew me as that blunt guy who had an extremely aggressive streak and would randomly explode at people. I certainly didn't want to be known to be like that. I wanted to be known as the fun, caring, funny, happy person that people know me in real life to be. I think after not posting here for a while, people will most likely be able to see that more then ever.
I hope for your sake that you can overcome the urge to react to posters who try to bait you.

Don't be mate. The best thing is to just walk away from the computer for a bit and come back when you're a bit level headed. Trust me on that one. I should have taken that advice years ago. Hindsight is a funny thing. Don't make the same mistakes that I did. I nearly cost myself a lot of friendships in this place. I cost one that I have always regretted.

I say F*** that shi* and punch them in the throat, they deserve it and its way better than holding the anger inside you, turning the other cheek will leave you bleeding on a cross...
Always stand your ground and nobody wont mess with you  and if it means you're a lesser man by someone else's standard, who gives a damn about their standards at all, when its all said and done the only thing that matters is that you're cool with yourself, the rest of the world can blow you...

Wow wow, Im not saying you should have a negative attitude at all.. Im a funny charming guy most of the time who is all about hedonism and fun, but if somebody comes at me Im gonna chop his head off... As soon as Im done placing the head on a stick for the world to see Im back to being a super cool positive guy...
It's like a mental switch you do on your own, just like when playing sports you switch to another state of mind...
But then again... The most important thing is to do you DD, whatever attitude goes best with your personality.. thats what you need to do, me and Will are only right about what works for me and Will.. You are DD, you can walk a whole new path thats just as awesome
