I feel a lot of people complaining about "PC" stuff just don't want to go through the hassle of thinking before speaking. Words have meaning and what they mean can be harmful.
Think before you speak. It's not rocket-science.

The only PC thing I saw so far here is calling gypsies "rromi" instead of "tigani", because calling someone "tigan" is nowadays considered offensive. That's mostly a media thing of course, on the street most people call them "tigani" or even "ciori" (crows ). People usually don't use the term "rromi" because it's too close to the term "romani"(romanians) and they don't want themselves to be associated with gypsies because of their reputation. (Some) Gypsies want to be called "rromi" because of a story that claims that they are orignary from Rome, however that's historically inaccurate as they came from India via slave trade in the middle ages.

This reminds me of a youtube channel posting satirical videos and one subject was denouncing homophobia. However, the dude got flamed by tons of people in the comments, calling him a homophobic person. So the dude, after being exasperated, started to question himself regarding such feedback and took the decision to post his video on a gay forum to see the reactions there. Guess what happened? They loved it and found it hilarious! Their comments were so positive the videomaker said he was touched to the tears, and joked saying after that he was almost ashamed of being heterosexual. What is there to deduce here? By treating the homosexuality topic using the same tone as he would have done regarding any other topic, all he did was to illustrate the thesis of his video: the gay community should be treated just the same as any other community, it should be neither spared, neither harassed. So in the bottom line, who are the people treating some community differently than others, putting them aside and not accepting them as any other folks like it should be?

People today are spineless. Especially in the US, where all I hear about is the proliferation of insecurities. Snow this nonsense.
I have utter disdain for the hypocrites who go lynching everyone who they deem is not PC and strays towards either end of the spectrum. Sometimes it feels to me that people deserve to have a moderate spanking from their parents when they are kids, otherwise most will grow up to become inverse bigots - fighting intolerance with intolerance.

If you're doing a joke about a group of people, ask yourself "am I punching up or am I punching down?" If the latter, you're being an awful person and should be called out on it. If you're a straight, white, economically well off male, it's almost certainly the latter and that's all I'm gonna say on the subject.

lol, but that's not all you're going to say on the subject. if you don't say anything about it, your head will explode. just like mine would if i didn't point out things that irk me.
just one of those things that irk me:
1. when someone uses the phrase "If you're a straight, white, economically well off male", to describe how or why pc should be more widespread.
are you getting what i'm saying, or do you not listen because i am white, straight, and actually speak for equality, but am anti-pc(i wonder why)?
you know, i'm against feminism(but pro-equality for sexes) for the same reason. they tell me that because i'm a male, i have something inherently wrong with me.
your kind seem to somehow miss the hypocrisy in what you stand for, and what you actually say to people, or how you represent your beliefs.
like how hardcore christians will judge and despise people, and tell people that they're going to hell; even though jesus tells them to turn the other cheek and "judge not, lest ye be judged".

I am sorry, but you look like a young guy with an gender identity problem, with too much time to waste, so it finally it ends wasted on self-victimization instead of transcending your doubts and create something positive from them, and which usually manages to piss off quite fast other people while making them constantly responsible of his own doubts.
Your hate for what you call the "normative" category of people had become quite visible lately, white race + straight sexuality + Christian is the evil mixture now, because in your madness you think they declared war on you while, in reality, nobody cares.
I don't know how it feels to have such intimal uncertainties as you clearly undergo, so I don't want to judge and I wish you all the best. But I only can warn you that everyone with a conscience goes through identity crisis at least once in his life, be it about gender, sexuality but also about his social role, his job, and also how others accept him for his human qualities.
So please spare us your hate because if you think you are the only one suffering or feeling incomprehension, what you feel is a very widespread feeling among all human category, except that not all people choose to express it as lightly as you do.

You just have to be politically incorrect sometimes.
Take fat people. If you except all people who have an illness that makes them become fatter for this or that reason, you must be allowed to say that fat people are unattractive, undisciplined, probably compensate for something, are sugar or fastfood junkies and will probably die sooner than they should.
Also, someone who's fat is FAT. What else can you say? They guy over there probably has an eating disorder and a weight handicap? Also, if you see someone who's fat, shoveling food into their mouth continously you can rule out a sickness - the guy is just eating too much.
Same thing with dumb. Some people are just plain DUMB. Just as there are people who are short. Or long.
Political correctness is based on the wrong assumption, that it's showing respect for someone when you tap-dance around the obvious.
It's not. It's just a lie. And as in the example with the gay comunity, it's the "handicapped" (or gays or whatever) who realize first that this velvet language is a lie.
When I was going to school, a couple weeks in (!) it became obvious I couldn't see a thing of what was written on the board. So I got glasses. More or less something like the Buddy Holly stuff. I felt like an alien and was called all kind of names, like children do it. However - they were right. I was wuite handicapped there. I got caled names - but I wasn't shunned because of that either.

yes but the problem arises from the fact that when is situational and local, PC isn't bothering anyone, is just being polite, a matter of individual education and decency. When it becomes international and is part of a lobby agenda, be it political, sexual orientation based or about religion, then it claims to become the new basis from which you will express your future thoughts. And it replaces the common language by banning full words and meanings.
As for example, ISIS/Daesh/islamic state. In Europe is it prohibited and considered racist to say "we are at war with the Islamic State", but allowed when specified ISIS, or DAESH. Which are the literal translation of Islamic State.
