The manual is a disappointment

I got the game today, the game is great but one thing
bothers me - THE MANUAL
In heroes3 you got a big-nice manual whith photos
and other stuff, but in Heroes4, you got a 19-page, small
manual which doesn't say a thing.

Not Good Enough 3D0

Greetings

The game looks good, but the manual is very disappointing. Actual I hereby state that this is not good enough 3D0.
I feel I am missing something!!

As an ambassedor of Heroes games among my circle of friends, I don't get help here in persuading them to buy the game! Selling a box with that little in is not going to improve sales! To leave out a rule and spell book, was not a vice decission!

Now if it shows up thats what the deluxe version is having , I am just getting pisted off.

Now raise your voices here on this subject, because i feel cheated, and thats not a good feeling to stay alone with!

Does the manual go into any detail about the game? Does it list unit statistics? HOMM2 had a cardboard foldout which had every unit standing side by side with stats. Do they have that card? Do they list the creatures in the manual?

Have you checked for a PDF manual on the CD?

I'm disappointed to hear this myself..

The Real manual 120 pages is on PDF on the CD.
Instruction manual is in the box , an contains 20 pages.
And in the box there is a creature folder with all unit stats.

The manual in the CD with PDF format is very good. I will print it and it will be a very nice book.
I think putting a tiny instruction manual in the box and having an extensive good manual in the CD is a very good idea.

I think that it's wrong. First, if you pay $50 you should get a nice manual in color. I dont want to use my ink and my paper to print one out myself. Also I like to have the manual handy to use when I play the game instead of hitting alt tab and running adobe and trying to find the right page. I also like to take the manual with me to work and (the room).  I haven't heard too much good about the game so far. I think I'm glad I'm waiting to but it.  It's either this or Dungeon Seige.

I disagree

I don't know where the game is selling for $50, but I'm getting it for $45.  Compared to Diablo II at $60 when it first came out, I'd rather save $15 and print my own manual.  It may be disappointing to not have one printed for you, but for frugal types like me, it's a good thing.  Besides, all most people do with the manual is toss it aside and read the reference cards/quick help cards anyway.

Marketing....

Well all this is just marketing;
3DO wants to make as much money as possible.
They know that true fans will buy the game anyhow..
But to create an Elite Edition too,
well I don't like it, but it's smart.
As you have probably red, a lot of people are angry about getting a small manual, and Malkia is talking about a big manual, well that is what I call free marketing;
3DO haven't paid Malkia anything (I think ) to say this, but wheter he has thought about it or not he is marketing the Elite Edition for them....
A lot of people haven't had the chance to buy the game yet, and those whom care about a great manual and those other things will probably get the Elite Edition, the ones whom does not care, buys the normal edition.
This will give 3DO a lot of happy buyers, since the normal edition is not that expensive people get the game to a fair price and those whom wants something more, well; they have to pay for it. And what has 3DO spent on this little thread which a lot of people read.....
not a single dollar !!

And you got more stuff in MightAndMagicGuild.com (well for now one extra Scenario called "A Spectre's Slave")

the ELITE edition comes with serial registration number in this guild..

Ah I smell comersialziation (but what the hell - that's the business)...

okay...

Well okay Malkia, just saw that now....
If you are able to order from 3DO you get
it for the same price as the normal edition.
But not everyone can order from them.
They only ship within nothern america I think.
But still; it's marketing on some level;
they want their fans to buy the game directly from them,
that does make their own income a lot better !!
They are making more money the more we buy directly from them, and since they got the best edition to the same price why not? Well....at least for those whom does live in northern america....which I don't

the manual is ok, nothing special
but i realy miss the helpfile. or something with more practical information (where i can read that 1 genie does 18 damage with ice bolt, or that the 1 angel can resurrect 92 hit points, or that the killing gaze of a medusa works by ranged attacks too )
does someone know how much lightning damage does the thunderbird?

Umm, is the elite one yellow?  Coz I got all that stuff in there, and I was told I bought the regular... Hmmm...

I know the manual is on the computer, but that's not much good to those of us who take manuals into the bath to read them

forgot...

Well.....I know the Europeen version of the box is yellow. If you visit the www.store.3do.com you can see that the limited edition has a black box !
And Malkia, I guess you paid 49,95 I can buy the game for 44,95 online, and almost the same in the stores.
My point is that I really do think the meaning is to sell the normal edition for a little less money....as I have mentioned before..

humm - I never saw difference in prices between elite/normal - maybe i was mistaken - it was for both $44.95 or $49.95 - can't remmember now... But currently (on one site) the price of the normal edition is exactly $10 less than elite (and guess what - the oneyear membership for MightAndMagicGuild.com is exactly $10 - anway - that Magic Guild does not have anything special - it opened about 1:00PM Pacific time 03/29/2002 - so it's new - and there is just one new map/scenario).

My box is black - and manual is 128 pages - got some brochures and posters inside - and XL t-shirt. Heh I'm 190cm so i fit in but it's not something special - white with Heroes4 picture - and on the back blah blah "Heroes IV"

I just want something cleared up.. To those people with the Elite version, did your 128 manual come printed out or was it also PDF?

What about the people without the elite edition? Did you get a printed 128 manual as well?
