Maps and the Making

Hi folks
I'm new at the site although returning to HOMM forums as I used to be a mod on H3Trio back in the day.  I still design HOMM3, AB and SOD maps.

I also have in my possession, many of the maps by various folks from the old site as well as a lot more which I have designed, since.  If you are interested, I am happy to share or even post them somewhere on the site, if that is the best place.

I look forward to chatting about a great old game with you all

Just before MapHeaven closed down, I was able to get my hands on all the maps posted on that site. I'm always looking for H3 Maps, especially AB/SoD ones. I can provide a Dropbox link to the said maps if you are interested.

Also, I would certainly appreciate some new H3 maps, feel free to bombard me with them.

Superb! I would love to have a browse through those and see if there are some I don't have.  If you want to let me have your actual email, I can always send you new designs that I have.  How would you feel about testing some maps now and again?  It's so much better to have another player check them out. I always feel that knowing the tactics I expect to be used and the wrinkles in any map, there is only so far you can go yourself when you create one. (especially the "quest" style progression maps.)

OK guys, you should be able to pick up a couple of maps from my website on the links below

http://www.sigil.org.uk/stuff/iwantmymummy.h3m

http://www.sigil.org.uk/princerebels.h3m

and

http://www.sigil.org.uk/stuff/disputedsuccession.h3m

See what you think of those two.  The first is a newer one that I have play tested relatively recently. The other I recall testing but was waiting for my kids to run it. It's a kind of Caspianesque rebellion where you need to escape and then turn around a small war. The third I seem to remember doing something with back some years ago.

Let me know. I think all are set expert so you may want to up them to impossible.

Yeah, I've played that little game+expansion for it. It was ok.

Once you played it thru once you'll probably get bored though.

Hello,

I made this topic with the intention of finding good maps. I know the amount of maps offered is HUGE and thats good, but at the same time it's weakness as well. I've been dissapointed by a lot of maps I downloaded and i hope we can share eachother experiences here

So here it goes: Please drop the name of (one of) your favourite maps here and tell us what kind of map it is and why you like it especially. As well as propterties which make the map most kind of enjoyable in your opinion! (so tell if it is a huge RPG or a small puzzlemap for example). I will start.

Castle dracula Map download

played the map together with my brother and i have made a few adjustments to make it harder.

The map is not very special, straightforward but pretty enjoyable.

- Decent difficulty
- Anti-rush map (even though it is medium sized, border guards and garrisons guard the players).
- Big battles
- No dimension door/fly allowed.

Tips for playing:
- This map fits best on Impossible difficulty
- Give every player a different town to make it harder (you won't be able to pick necropolis or Castle to make it a bit harder).

About the map: The goal is to take destroy the 'villain' of the map, Dracula before it is to late, but that is easier said then done. Decisions have to be made. Do you go for an early strategic advantage by claiming the middle area? or do you get rid of your neighbour as soon as possible?

I really hope to see a lot of enjoyable maps here, thank you in advance

P.S. If you play the map/other maps that are posed please give feedback, what could be better? Did you enjoy it?

Dude, I am playing some RPG maps (XL size). You can try "The lord of war" and "Wayfarer".

Sent you a new map to have a look at.

All  -  I hope the links I posted above were ok. Let me know if you have a go at any of the maps, there.   I want my mummy is, of course, somewhat humerous although it is designed to be a decent game, as well.

Hi guys!

My first post here, hope I have come to the right place

I played a bit of TOH, many years back. Never got any good at it, but came to appreciate the maps that was played there. Especially the balanced 1vs1 maps and when I figured out how to use it, those random templates.

Years later, I am out of maps to play, and I find it hard to find anything that keeps my interest. I have played Desert War surely a few hundred times, and random maps almost to death. I prefer medium or large maps without too much underground, and usually just play single player with impossible.

Extra large ones with tons of castles and huge armies just gets boring for me after a while, and if I want RP, I prefer other games. Unfortunately the kind of maps I like the least is what I find the most of online!

So is there anyone who can help me out with some similar maps to those I found on TOH, or fun maps that aren't too big? Would be much, much appreciated!
