Different Type of Dragons?

I didn't play Heroes 6 but Heroes 5 dragons are too identical.
I think they should have made the dragons unique.
And I'm referring to the champions of each faction.

There are different faces of dragons, here are a few examples:

1. Arkath

2. Shalassa

3. Ylath

4. Sylanna

5. Malassa

6. Elrath

so, what do you think?

This.

As for the dragons, they did make the "mini Shalasa" (aka Kirin) closer to a dragon-serpent in H6, and made the Black Dragon out of spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace... But yeah, I agree that more variety in shape could help make Ashan dragons more unique.

If you look at the artwork for the dragon gods, you can see that there is quite some variation. For the black dragons they stayed really close to the artwork, so I have faith that, if there is a multitude of dragons again in Heroes 7, they will be quite different.

In mythology there are awesome different dragons models found.

1) Wyverns
2) Gaasyendietha's which are from Native American mythology, they are meteor dragons, dragons made of stone and able to form their body into meterorite form to crush the earth beneat them.
3) Ladon the plant dragons.
4) Asian Dragons of all colors and species.
5) Female dragons from greek mythology, Echidna, Kampe/Campe and Delphyne.
6) The white dragon known as Asdeev
7) The yellow poisonous horned dragon Svara.
8) The Peluda, a spikey wingless dragon.
9) Bakunawa the eclipse sea-dragon, looks more like a sea serpent with liquid shadow.
10) Haietlik also from native american folklore, another sea-serpent dragon that has a sharp pointy horn on his face so he can pierce other creatures, he also uses lightning attacks.
11) Fafnir and Nidhogg, the norse dragons.
12) Pyrausta, a very small fairy-like dragon with insect parts, mostly those of dragonflies but also other insect species are known.
13) Lindworm/Linnorms are wingless ancient dragons that have been dorment for years and overgrown by nature itself.
14) Gorynych or Zmey, a vain multiheaded dragon that is extremly greedy and selfish and can transform into human form.

These are just a few, there are tons more.

Me too, but we already have a variant of the eastern dragon aligned with Shalassa. The artwork for Elrath is also pretty nice btw, but I can see that you would want the air dragon to be feathered...

i don't like the wind dragon. it looks unicorn-ish. which reminds me of the fairy dragon from HoMM3. which i hated.

actually, it looks like a cross between a unicorn and a griffin. so that animal is actually a "grifficorn". or a "uniffin".

Hmm, it doesn't have a horn, so I don't see the unicorn in it. Maybe a mule mustang, that would make it a Muffin

I know I get ignored anyway because i'm kinda a newbie poster but whatever, I love to hear myself speak anyway.

Some animal-dragons would be awesome.

1) The Dragon Wasp Ichneumon, a horrid half wasp half dragon that lays his eggs inside other dragons.
2) Another dragon-slaying dragon is Sirrush, or wolf dragon. While much smaller than most dragons, they hunt in ferocious packs that take down much larger dragons for prey, but Sirrush kinda hate other dragons, especially evil ones.
3) While from D&D, the Dragonne would be a cool lion-dragon.
4) A friendly face among the dragons is the Byakko or white-tiger Dragon.
5) There are some dragon-turtles in mythology, Dragon Turtles come from Chinese Mythology and then there is Genbu.
6) The Unicorn Dragon is known as Sin-You or the friendly version is called Kirin.
7) The Native American dragon bird known as Tsenahale would be cool.
8) Dragon Ogres are also there in English Mythology, they are known as Brobinyak. They are bogeymen that look like Ogres with dragon eyes, wings, scales and tongue.
9) THere is even a dragon ooze creature known as A Boa A Qu. These heavenly blue slimes absorb charisma from their victims to become the perfect being themselves, they start out as formless goo but when they absorbed enough charisma these vain beings transform into a dragon made entirely from beautiful blue slime.
10) Ajatar is a pretty cool demonic dragon. She is called the mother of all demons and devils for a reason...
11) In some versions of the story the Gaueko is a Black Shadow dragon instead of a dog or monster, Gaueko come from Basque mythology and are enforces of darkness and shadow, they attack any creature that doesn't fear the darkness as they should respect the darkness in which the Gaueko resides.
12) Need a cool Dragon-Spider? Take Tsuchigumo from Japanese mythology, also sometimes refered to as Demon Spider.
13) Lukwata would make the perfect Dragon Eel or Dragon Fish.
14) Ammit/Ammut or The Devourer is a chimeric creature, but could also function as Dragon Crocodile hybrid.
15) The Lambton Worm from English fairytales or the Minhacao from Brazil cryptid lists could function as Dragon worms.
16) Tarasque, an abomination from French, could work as dragon.
17) Cherufe is a volcanic creature living inside volcanoes, it mostly takes up the form of a magma golem, but in some versions it is actually reptilian or dragon-like. A volcanic dragon that is the will, mobility and voice of a living volcano would be awesome.
18) Salamanders could be Dragons of fire.
19) Isonade or the Dragon Shark is an awesome horror dragon with 3 powerful shark tails which it uses to crush ships with.
20) Balaur are Hydra-Dragons, mostly the are named as dragon winged hydra's.
21) Aitvaras are deceptive dragons that can take the forms of Roosters indoors and Cockatrice-like dragons out doors, their gaze burns you.
22) Ga-Gorib is a Dragon of Earth from Africa.
23) Piasa is a Manticore-Dragon from Native American mythology, it is one of the few dragon species with feathers.
24) Vouivre is half Wyvern and half beautiful woman, the wyvern's tail ends in the upperbody of a women, which lures males close to them.
25) Kongamato is a dragon version of the Pteranodactyl or Pteranodon.
26) Odontotyrannos is a red skinned, with black tiger-stripes Tyrannosaurus Rex Dragon-like horror with teeth growing out of its entire body and maw.
27) Amphiptere is a small drake species, a bat winged snake dragon.
28) Nycar are small Lindworms/Linnorms from the story of Beowulf, they reside in swamps and strange alien slime-pools, they are small and wingless and drown victims in the mud/alien slime.
29) Water Leapers are dragon toads/frogs with bat wings.
30) Amhuluk are horrid abominable dragon mutants that corrupt the water they live in, turning every creature that lives inside the lake for too long into horrid slave mutants that serve the Amhuluk.
31) Grotesque, while normal Gargoyles are kind and protective, these horrid abominable evil Gargoyles take the forms of Dragons.
32) Ikuchi, a japanese sea serpent that leaks oil and tar over ships to sink them.
33) Hypnalis is a Cobra Dragon from Egyptian mythology, they are bright white and can kill you inside your dreams much like Freddy Kruger. This creature is said to have killed Cleopatra in her sleep, probably by her own will so she could die painless.
34) Uktena is a rattle-snake dragon-type Native American horror, it has the antlers of a elk on his head and a very bright diamond on his forehead (much like many pokemon have) that lures humans and other creatures close as they admire the shining gem, then the Uktena strikes them with his feriocious poison.

Well, your list(s) are a bit long, but there are definitely some interesting monsters in there. Maybe (next time) you can pick your favourites and tell us a little more about the beast and of course provide us with an awesome picture!
Still it's a very nice effort

Don't have lots of time and I don't have pictures of many of those more obscure mythology dragons/monsters but I have this one for a start:

A Boa A Qu, the vain, charisma-eating Ooze Dragon.

Also the Sirrush are Dragon Wolves that hunt in large packs for greater evil dragons. Three of them can merge together to become a Cerberus-like Dragon like on the pic below.
They often merge together when prey(Dragon) is too powerful for them.

Then there is this Uktena that I wanted to share. The Rattle-snake Dragon from Native American Folklore with the Gem on his forehead that attacts prey that get inspired to walk toward the Uktena after seeing the glowing jewel.

I know we have the Faerie Dragon, but D&D Stole that idea from the Greek Pyrausta or Insect Dragon. Many variants of Pyrausta exist, like the Spider Pyrausta, the Moth Pyrausta, the Locust Pyrausta, the Walking Stick Pyrausta, the Wasp Pyrausta, the Mantis Pyrausta and most commonly the Dragonfly Pyrausta like on the picture.

The Hypnalis or Cobra Dragon is an awesome creature living in the realm of dreams and nightmares.
They can invade your dreams and kill you from within that dream, they enjoy this and often torture victims for months or years before making the fatal strike to them.
Cleopatra willingly gave her life to a big Hypnalis.
They can also teleport much like the Spot from Spiderman like you see on this picture.

The Cherufe often appears like a humanoid monster made from lava but some myths adopted the more dragon-version like in this picture.

Cherufe are the living will, voice, force and mobility of a ancient and hungry living volcano.

The beautiful Piasa or Manticore-Dragon are closely related to the real Manticore but they are Dragons and not Chimerae. They are from Native American Myths and are pretty awesome, just watch the pic for proof!

Not all dragons are big and tough, this cute little creature is called the Water Leaper or Llamhigyn Y Dwr and appears to be a simple frog with bat wings, but its a dragon species.

We know the Kirin as Dragon Unicorn that fights for Kindness, but the Sin-You is a dragon-unicorn that punishes criminals and other evil-doers in very evil methoids, they may not harm good creatures, but they are still not very gentle and kind like their Kirin bothers.

From the phillipines comes the Dragon named Bakunawa or Eclipse Serpent. They are enormous sea serpents/dragons that were said to eat moons.
In heroes I want these creatures to be smaller of course, and they should have the ability over shadows. Because its a sea creature they could have liquid shadow attacks, this watery shadow stuff attacks EVERY light-source and destroys it so that darkness will spread.
They are just awesome.

So what exactly does 'dragon' mean? As far as I can tell there seems to be no overall features to define them, some are flying, some grounded, some have wings, some don't, most have legs, but not all do, and not all of those that do have the same number, and nor is size an indicator, and though most are scaled, not all are.
