More Female Characters = More Money?
Hi guys, just to make things clear, this isn't another female creature bashing thread and I'm NOT implying female hatred in any way. This is just a quest for knowledge thread and I decided to post this in Heroes 6 forum because it concerns Heroes 6 the most.
oh an by the way, when I say men or boys, I don't men male feminists or social justice warriors, I mean the general population of boys who are just being boys.
So in my quest for knowledge, I found out that most men prefer games that has a lot of characters they can relate to. Which is male. Of course, this has to have a good gamplay, interesting storyline and good eyecandy graphics to back it up but in general, boys play games they can relate to.
I guess one reason why Heroes 6 failed. Yeah I know the crappy storyline, lack of interesting gameplay, destroyed tradition and irritating amount of bugs has a huge hand in flopping it but it decided to go to the social justice warrior route and balance male creatures with female creatures. It somehow failed to attract the huge potential market for Heroes.
I mean, call me misogynist but I'm one of those many men out there who doesn't care about political correctness or feminism and one of my criteria is that, will it be a girly girl game? Yes, Heroes 6 is a girly girl game. I'm saying this out of observation.
And why are we focusing on boys and not girls? That's because a strategic/tactical game of Heroes of Might and Magic's genre attracts boys. I know recent study has a more equal market of boys and girls but did it explain what genre of game they are playing? I think girls are more attracted to puzzles and facebook games or games like the Sims while boys are attracted to fps and rts. Heroes is exactly what boys would love to play. In gaming conventions, how many girls do you see? Uhmm, probably 3 or 4. How many boys you see? And it's not just one or two gaming conventions, I've been to many gaming conventions and everytime, men outnumber women 9 - 1 (and that's even overestimating it).
So in summary, I think Heroes should ditch the idea of the political correctness they started in Heroes 6. I mean, if they want to optimize profit, I would really advise them to make Heroes 7 male-dominated. Yes, you can have 3 or 4 female creatures and 1 female hero in the campaign like Heroes 5 but it should be male dominated. Heroes 5 vanilla was perfect by the way.
You can only attract boys or girls. You can't have both. I suggest they market it on boys since that's where all the money are.

a) Tomb Raider
b) H6 didn't sell well because of multiple bugs, a meh storyline, and a lot of poor design choices. Do you really think that if those weren't there someone would look at the game and go, "Well, it's rated 10/10 on every website, but it has a lot of girls in it, so I'll pass."

how many threads are you going to start that pretty much covers the same topic, j-mo? i'm starting to think that there might be something to the claims lexxan and others made about you. i gave you the benefit of the doubt before, but this is the 5th thread that you have created, covering pretty much the same topic. you are looking like herry did, in his quest for qp's, by creating this many threads with the increasingly apparent identical goal in mind.
you know, by acting like this, it is becoming more difficult to see you as someone with a valid opinion. you are appearing to back up the claims made about you.

can't a guy suggest what he wants in Heroes 7? And besides, I'm trying to help Ubi realize how they can make more profit.

yes, and if you actually understood my original post, you'd know that I put all those into consideration. What I said was if they make the game more relatable to men, Ubi would make more profit.
And also, website ratings doesn't matter. It's the number of people buying it will decide HoMM's longivity.
Lastly, I hear a lot of people saying that the reason why Ubi added more female creatures was to attract female gamers. That made sense to a lot of people. I don't see how reverse gender is invalid.

Starting to look like junk threads ???? That is all they have ever been. I am starting to wonder if it has to get to the point were the OP has to state his open hostility by, maybe suggesting a female cull or something ludicrous like that before any action is taken by this forum. Perhaps we should wait until the OP has opened a misogynistic thread in every single board before we do something, you know as proof, just to make sure.

fine. no one understands me.
Anyway, before you do anything, do you know how I can email my points to Ubi? Does Ubi have a suggestion board or something?

They keep track of these forums anyways. They've answered to questions I had at least twice directly through here. So you don't have to waste any more of their time anyway, they've heard it all already.

Because they didn't wipe out the male characters, they just added some more females. And as you can see for yourself "boys just being boys" don't give a rat's ass about that, they just wanna play a good game. When you don't feel intimidated by women on a pathological level, a bunch of she-Elves with swords don't mean the end of the world to you, what a wonder!

And I'll say it again, Tomb Raider. Sold extremely well and has a female main character. And what makes you think men can't relate to women?

One of the reasons people decide to buy a game is because of reviews, they have a huge impact on game sales.

If you carefully read what I said, I said 3 or 4 female creatures like HoMM 5 is perfect. I didn't say wipe out the female characters.
artu said: "boys just being boys" don't give a rat's ass about that, they just wanna play a good game
So you're saying boys don't care about relating to a character based on gender but girls do? (since you don't have any reactions to my attracting female gamers post, I assume you agreed) What are you trying to imply?
Vindicator said: And I'll say it again, Tomb Raider. Sold extremely well and has a female main character. And what makes you think men can't relate to women?
Is Tomb Raider your only example? Cause I said graphics/gameplay/etc matters. It's just that there are more profit if the target market can relate to the character.
Vindicator said: One of the reasons people decide to buy a game is because of reviews, they have a huge impact on game sales.
Wait, didn't you say HoMM6 was rated 10/10 on every website? We know how sales for HoMM6 turned out.

No, you didnt say they must wipe out female characters but you act like a balancing move completely wipes out male characters. 4 or 5 is perfect just for you, as long as there are enough male characters though, boys will be okay with more female characters. I dont play H6 but I'm pretty sure the gender ratio is not something like 10 female heroes for every 1 male hero.

Actually, it's perfect for everyone. Heroes has always had below 10 number of female creatures. Up until Heroes 6 ofcourse.

Sure... Everyone was obsessed with the gender ratio of pre-H6 games, changing it to a version with little more females would be like destroying the golden harmony of perfection. You are obviously speaking for everyone, the support and cheering you get when you present this shameful fact to us, clearly proves that. You are a champion of the crowds, Jemo.

in my opinion, games should have an equal amount of male and female characters, creatures, and monsters. i think that is something that could greatly benefit the gaming world. more people would be interested, and with a possible boon in the gaming industry, they could better diversify the games, and make them more interesting. this of course is assuming that, with more people attracted to gaming, the gaming corporations don't increase the attitude of mass-produce garbage merely to fill demand; like what is happening in every other company, outside gaming...
