Hmm.. Did you install the HD mod? If so, you need to run the regular Heroes 3 game once (without HD) and exit out soon after. Then you can open up the regular Heroes 3 Era/WOG (without HD) and it should run fine. If you run it from the HD launcher it should run fine regardless, however you can't avoid random crashes as the HD mod isn't very compatible with Era/WOG (Many thanks to Sal for pointing that out to me) I've had the problem you stated here when I installed the HD mod and tried running Era from the start menu, turns out all I had to do to fix it was running the regular Heroes 3 one time .
