Best Possible Necropolis Lineup:

Core
1. Zombie/Revenant - slow, tank unit. Revenants are rotten and when they attack, they leave their target a curse.
melee, walker

2. Ghoul/Noble Ghoul - Ghouls are not fighters. They prefer to  stay in the grave and eat the dead. When Lord Vein saw their talents, he recruited them. Ghouls has the ability to shapeshift into any core creature. This creature has to be in the battlefield. They can also eat corpses to replenish their numbers.
melee, walker

3. Banshee/Lady in White - tormented for eternity, these ladies will use their ethereal form to try pulling out the hearts of their opponents. Banshees can scream on their targets damaging anyone nearby. Lady in Whites are stronger than Banshees and their opponents will hear the sorrow in their screams, thus, reducing morale if that skill is used.
melee, flier

Elite
4. Dullahan/Bloody Dullahan - also known as Headless Horsemen, their presence alone reduces the enemies' morale. They are scary. They carry their weapon on one hand, a whip made of a human's spinal cord and their head on the other.
If a stack is weak enough, they use their whips to decapitate a stack removing its head and giving them some sort of satisfaction. Every stack they kill increases their attack damage.
melee, mounted

5. Vampire/Dhampir - these young, handsome men are one of the driving force of the dead's army. They don't walk, they teleport. They suck their opponent's blood. Thus, everytime they attack, they heal themselves and regain their number. Experienced Vampires or rather, the Dhampirs can use their charm ability to make targets do anything they want. They have to be near the target to do this and they can only control one at a time. The target has to be weaker or close to their strength as a stack.
melee, teleporter

6. Lich/Eternal Lich - Liches are the only range creatures in the dead's army. They also have a variety of curses. One of which is the ability to raise the dead, hence, which is why they get the name "Eternal Lich". Their normal attacks will hit anyone near the target.
range, walker

Champion
7. Bone Dragon/Specter Dragon - bone dragons are more defensive than offensive. They are the exact same version of their counterparts in H5.
melee, flier

8. Grim Reaper/Death Reaper - as the exact definition of death, Reapers can kill anyone with one hit in the stack with their scythe.
melee, flier

Pretty reasonable lineup overall, though I'm having trouble which of the core units fills the 'support' role.

reasonable indeed. I like dullahan elite and especially champion. However core with ghoul and zombie is a little bit of the same.

the ability to shapeshift for ghoul is a little bit odd. But a noble effort nonetheless

We shouldn't expect "medieval theme" in Necropolis soon. Last time we've got it was Heroes V and as we know Ubi wasn't pleased. Now it's time for "cultist/sand" theme. I suppose (and hope at the same time) that we will see mummy again. I'm a little bit bored with Liches, so I'd like to see them "merged" with specter/ghost unit. Undead, incorporeal spellcaster. It would be nice to see Undead Dragon once again, but this time in ghost/specter form with incorporeal ability.

My vision for Necropolis: I like the idea of having Dullahan in the line-up though I think they would be more suitable as champions. And I would also like the Heroes 5 Wight/Reaper to return. As for Vampires, I prefer the Nosferatu like appearance of Heroes 3 over the Ashan vampires, but I doubt they'll change that. I think the Liches should be skeletal and not bald guys as in Heroes 6. I think some arachnoid unit would also be appropriate as it goes along with the spider theme of the Ashan Necropolis and it has some potential.

This is how feel about it.

Actually, zombies and ghouls are NOT the same.

Zombies are mindless, walking dead corpses, risen back with insatiable hunger to feed on the living. They have no will on their own. They are mindless.

Ghouls are more intelligent. They originate in middle eastern lore. They are gravediggers. They eat the dead. Zombies eat the living while ghouls eat the dead. And according to the lore, they have shapeshifting abilities.

I dont really love black knights. And the current swordmaster vampires make them quite reductive, so i wouldnt want them unless we.return to the more royal, weaponless vampire of H3-4

I'm here for Vampiress/Vampiress Courtesan

Yes - that would make forums truly interasting indeed! I don't think even Ubi is as sadistic as that.

No? Ask Manticores, Faceless and Medusas, or Blade Dancers, Unicorns and Phoenixes, they might know better. ^^

I think this would be a good lineup:

Core:
Skeleton/Skeleton Archer
Zombie/Rot Zombie
Wight/Wraith (as in H3)

Elite:
Vampire/Vampire Lord
Lich/Master Lich
Black Knight/Dread Knight

Champion:
Death Omen/Reaper (H5-style)
Bone Dragon/Ghost Dragon

Though maybe Dread Knight and Reaper should switch tiers.

I think a fact that Sylanna's Fury didn't have a Phoenix won that vote, not Blade Dancer.

Did you just copy the H3 lineup and add Reaper as second champion? I mean, who would notice, right?

It seems cool, but I would rather have something like Bone Horror instead of Bone Dragon, unless they make Bone Dragon somewhat unique looking and on par with other champion units.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it", right?

But, since we've been choosing among 3 different lineups, here are 3 alternatives that I've thought of:

Asha's Chosen Warriors
Core:
Skeleton/Skeleton Archer
Zombie/Rot Zombie
Wight/Wraith

Elite:
Vampire/Vampire Lord
Lich/Master Lich
Black Knight/Dread Knight

Champion:
Death Omen/Reaper
Bone Dragon/Ghost Dragon

Denizens of the Pyramids
Core:
Skeleton/Skeleton Archer
Mummy/Noble Mummy
Wight/Wraith

Elite:
Vampire/Vampire Lord
Lamasu/Putrid Lamasu
Embalmer/Undertaker

Champion:
Fate Spinner/Fate Weaver (looks like the arachnid form, can't take human form)
Bone Dragon/Ghost Dragon

Spider's Devotees
Core:
Skeleton/Skeleton Archer
Zombie/Rot Zombie
Acolyte/Dark Monk

Elite:
Vampire/Vampire Lord
Lich/Master Lich
Spider Warrior/Spider Knight (looks like the Fate Spinner's human form, but wields weapons)

Champion:
Fate Spinner/Fate Weaver
Death Omen/Reaper
