Era on windows 8
Hewwo guys. I have a question. Do Era II works on windows 8. I am of having problems here. I talked to Sal and he told me post here some screenshots, but the game just crash and no log or message is shown. I Thought it could be incompatibility but still dont work. Ehh... I don't know what to do now.
I would be glad if somebody here help me, i am really sorry for this and i don't wanna to cause any trouble here. Ah i am sorry for my bad english it is not my main language.

In main folder, open heroes3.ini with any text editor, then change debug value to 1 here:
Debug=0
Start the game. After the crash upload the eralog.txt from same folder to wikisend.com.

OK. Move or reinstall your Heroes game in C:\Heroes 3 or whatever the name will be.
Don't use Program files folder for installing games in win8.
Then try again.
Also, if you read russian, manual for installing Heroes on win8

Ok, first make sure you have Heroes Complete edition or SoD, then install Era over it. Not wog 3.58.
Installing era over RoE or Armageddon blade will not be enough.
Then try to start the game only with wog mod and see if ok.

For Windows 8 users:
1) Turn off you antivirus software if you cannot install the game/mod. Some low quality antiviruses delete files silently and even do not allow you to participate in judgment process.
2) Work only with "D, E.." disks (not "C") or your user folder in "C": "Users\UserName\...". Otherwise you'll have a plenty of problems. Act as administrator.
3) Install Heroes3 and Era 2.46. Check out using right click on game folder that attribute "read-only" is unset in properties!!!
4) If unpacking was successful and h3era.exe file presents, launch it.
5) Nothing happened? Do not panic. Right click on h3era.exe, properties, compatibility - Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Then it works.
6) If it does not work, you can try to turn off DEP. Google will help you.
7) If game hangs during your experiments, launch task manager first (ctrl+alt+del - task manager), options - stay always on top. Then you will be able to kill h3era process any time.

On Windows 8, I just had to turn down the volume for both effects and music all the way and it runs smoothly..but as soon as I turn the volume back up it gives me crashes (not at the same time). I just noticed that without the volume it runs just fine without issues..sucks not to hear anything though

Hi.
I did everything you told me.
The game works, sometimes, but sometimes it simply crashes and even with debug=1 i can't see anything to report here.
when i attack a castle, there is no battlefield.

Yay!!
It is working, sometimes the game crashes, but i always save the game and then i can continue 
Ah... what about the mods? I saw the topic and theres a lot of mods, can i use them all? Or there is incompatibility? Does "horn of abyss" mode works with era?
