The fine part about potions is that some of them are for more battles than one.
Example-the immortality potion.Once you drink it,it gives you one ressurect until in some battle your hero die or it is dispelles/cancelled.
The other potions-my favourite from them is the mana potion. You can take it anytime and it's effect is .
Also you have the movement potion, which can be useful in many circumstances.
So I buy a lot of ressurection, mana and movement potions,if I have the money.
I don't care much about the luck and morale potions, because you can only use them in the heat of the battle,if you get the opportunity.
The extra attack potion would be good for hero with grandmaster melee.
I find very useful some of the vials as well, expecially the one, which binds flyers.

Ah, yes, the immortal one I often use, and the binding foe. Didn't remember there was a movement one though.
I was mostly asking because I would often finish the map with a legion of troops and a legion of potions in my stash, so I always felt like not using them in a very positive way - which surely beats not using them.

Did you know the Potion of Immortality can be used even outside of battle?

It's wise to use potion of immortaluty outside Battle and healing potion in Battle as you lose Any buff's upon death/resurrection and healing portions are half Price of immortality.
Panda, potion of endurance gives you an extra 3 movement. Buff it with movements modifiers and it increases. I made a map on CH, Don't Pee in the Water, where you'll need to use the potion on higher difficulties in order to Win.
It also benefits to use fast troops.
A friend game across a bug that made it possible for e.g a Group of bandits to gain more than +200 movement in One turn Now that's a neat trick.

That's neat.
H4 had some fun maps, although I'm not sure if many would work with Equilibris? I ended up being spoiled by that mod and cannot play without it anymore.
In higher difficulties with that mod, opposing heroes would start battle with Immortality buff, right?

PandaTar said: Bloodsucker, how often you use those potions we get around the map? I mean, in many different maps, holistically speaking that is? And how much use you convey to them, if addressing this issue to other ('normal and naïve') players such as myself?
Usually isn't easy to find potions of immortality along the map but when I finally find the money for blacksmith I prioritize their buy to everything but heroes (I always buy them as soon as I can). Besides that I spend my money more or less as Maurice discribed, first Immortality, then Mana/Healing/Endurance then, if I still have some money maybe a few of the others. From my experience some itens can be precious, like leathers and bows. A Dark Lord with a ranged weapon will cast Sorrow on enemies when he shoots them, for instance.

Potions that can be used in battle can be used if youre facing units who cant move far, whether by your doing or due to them being slow innately.
Potions of endurance are sold in the Barbarian faction armory.
Some good potions were mentioned, but unless I missed it, the Cold Freeze one isn't on here.
If you have a melee hero, most notably a hero with grandmaster melee, the freeze potions can be of great use. Especially if you're a solo hero facing huge neutral armies.
You'll need a way to make yourself immune to retaliation though, unless you think you can survive a hit from a stack of 20 or more Behemoths.

Brennus, This tread was meant for sharing tips and tricks for single Players. I asume you use, atleast in some cases, other tactics vs human players, and I think we all got your statement by Now, but why keep posting stuff that isn't contributing to This tread?
Ofcourse you dont Tell your opponent your best tricks, but obviously your sleeve is so stuffed full of tricks, you must have arms like an extreme bodybuilder. But is each and every One Them so vital, that sharing just a few, Will Mean you'd No longer Be able to kick all our arses?
A few other options Can Be used before Battle, like strenght and toughness/hydra health.. Can Be usefull against strong enemies if hero is fighting alone.

Yeah, no need to be puffed up like that. Besides, that is against the Code of Conduct. You never know when you may encounter a new fan of Heroes IV.

Brennus you do realise that skilled mapmakers have found ways to improve the AI, Thus making tips like these useful..? (I guess not)..
Besides if your best argument is to call other people an idiot, I'd say that makes you an idiot too. You may conclude they're no good at playing H-IV, but drawing the idiot card is what 10 year old kids do.
I also might add, that my dad can easily beat your dad

Looks like noone here knows your name but once I saw an old stream of Maretti on YouTube, so I asked him a question about a game I really still play to this day. You know what THE CHAMPION did? He awsered my question, told me that he doesn't update that account anymore and invited me to follow him on Twitch something I have been doing for years. You on the other hand just remind me of this clip .
How many of you are ready to bet a ton of money that if I defy Maretti, Gomunguls or Redwait they will say "NO, first you need to be accept as a papashka, then I will fight you"? There is a difference between being a champion and being eager to smash noobs.
I don't know how good you are and I don't care, for me you are just another bully.

Well, it is true that advices to beat the AI are often funny and simplistic. However, this is what the forums are for, and gaming MP is something else, which one might have the time or not to achieve. Because, as one who played hundreds of games online, this takes a lot of time, a lot of frustration too -just think at all noobs who quit after 3 hours "I gotta go, bye", a lot of sacrifices, as stopping a game before it ends then continue later is never a good idea or fun.
So yes, advices against AI are noobish sometimes. But also thats what forums are for, and that also how one learns the basics, not by being spanked in 3 minutes by the quickest and less educated of players.
Beside, I don't know how hard is H4 (seems AI really bad there), but in H3 tactics solo are totally different, and I'm not sure even Marreti could finish a few solo maps easily. It requires specialization too.

Would be interesting for me to learn tips on remembering which oracle you visited and which you didn't.
Example-you visited 4 oracles and you need the 5th one to get the map of the treasure.
You can see all of them in different places you visited before, but you are not sure which one is the non-visited.
You could take your time to visit them again,so in this case a trick can save you time.

Moderator note: BrennusWhiskey, as others have pointed out, you have multiple times posted offences directly at other members in this thread which goes against the rules, hence a penalty has been applied above. The forum rules are quite clear on this subject, as they are with regards to swear-words and how they are not allowed, not even when partly censored.
If you are more skilled than other members, you have two options laid out for you: Either you can help others get more skilled, or you can stay silent. Offending others because they may be less skilled than you is not constructive behaviour. Further deviation from these rules will result in silence being applied to your account with no further warning.
