Gryphs said: Well at that point said race would not be Ylath's servants which was the original proposition.
Ylaths servants are the Humans. But Ylath does not want to be worshipped, so there will be no temple for him.
Also to what race do you refer?
There is Ylath's temple on Agyn peninsula.

There has to be some connection to Ylath or he might as well not be their "dragon" this of course would be wind magic but if that is not there there is not really enough to call it Ylath's faction.

Ashan does not lend itself well to racial diversity right now anyway so I would think humans would work.

Wait, I thought this was about a steampunk faction, so what has Ylath got to do with it?

We were discussing an Ylath faction and you suggested a steampunk theme in relation to the car representing freedom.

True. Though to defend my case: the thread was about dwarves and machinery. So when you guys started about nomads/pirates I tried to bring at least the machinery back into the equation

Can you make a faction including these units?

Yeah, this discussion should probably be in in a different thread.

Well, the answer to this post has allready been answered. Dwarves will not have machinery of any kind as they are not tinkers in Ashan. That's why Marzhin brought up Forge as an idea.

like genya, I also thought tibetan would resemble sanctuary because of monks, inner peace, discipline. Maybe mongols would be closer, maybe some mixing. :]
When I said before that the faction could be mixed, I was thinking that, while it would be a human themed faction, I think it would be possible to also have a half-elf, or half-dwarf, maybe a half orc, half naga, etc. Considering the races, we could see it like a kind of "free for all" faction, maybe except for guys like demons, nethermancers. Of course, I don't think we should overdo this, but having 1 half-(foreign-race) unit could be interesting.
Even with freedom in mind, it's cool trying to create some identity.
In practice, I think we could set 2 human units and the rest could be filled with lots of possibilities, from mythological entities to a half-elf wind sorceress or more human units, it goes according to your taste. Thunderbird/lightning dragon, pegasus, a kind of "living cloud"/untamed storm unit, embodiment of the seasons, some static wisp, etc.
Philosophy goes around of freedom, exploration, learning, curiosity.
If we want to add some mongol vibe, I think one unit I would like to see is the mongolian eagle hunter/huntress:
Maybe an idea/sketch for town screen:
resembles h6 stronghold a bit I guess lol

More like H5, those orcs were going for the huns/mongols horde vibe.
I think the free cities could make another faction.

yeah, I also thought it was looking too orcish.
edit: just checked h5 stronghold, you're right.

I think it's more like he don't ask to be worshipped. But if people want to worship him, it's fine, if they don't, it's fine too.

free cities seems to be the way to go. Marzhin, if you read this, do you think a free cities/ylath oriented faction would be viable? possible? 'dreamable'?
