Yes, I agree with you in that you have to follow the number of buildings provided by UbiSoft, but there are some things that can be done about it. One of the problems with the H7 Town screens is that they don't properly group buildings. Thus, you have a marketplace which is one entity, then you have a resource silo that is another entity, and you have perhaps an artifact merchant that is a third entity, etc. In Academy townscreen, this is very evident in that every single building has its own small floating island, which means everything becomes teeny-tiny in order to make room for it. Bizarrely, in Haven and Stronghold townscreens, they fall in the opposite ditch: Buidings are spread out uniformly over the entire picture, making it impossible to see where one stops and the next starts.

I think one can circumvent this problem at least to some extent by making groups of buildings, and then dividing the townscreen into clear sections for each group. Groupings can be done something like:

1) Defensive buildings: Wall, Fort, Castle, Moat, etc.
2) Civil buildings: Village Hall, Town Hall, City Hall, Capitol +/- special buildings (Treassury, etc.)
3) Hero buildings: Tavern, Blacksmith, Thieves Guild +/- special buildings (Stables, Embassy, etc.)
4) Economic buildings: Marketplace, Resource Silo, Artifact Merchant +/- special buildings (Alchemist Lab, etc.)
5) Magic buildings: Mage Guild 1-4 +/- special buildings (Library, Enscriber, Vortex of Mana, Choral of Believers, etc.)
6)-12) Dwellings: Level 1-7 +/- booster buildings - booster building always extends on the dwelling, not a separate building
13) Town Portal
14) Grail

By grouping buildings and by dividing the town screen into sections (foreground, middle, background - each with a number of slots next to each other) it should be possible to make it more structured yet still holding the same number of buildings. As a sidenote, the same would go for the town build window.

Thanks for the answer. Could you tell me for what is PSD used? Sorry for the stupid question. I guess that it has to do something with the images, but I'm not sure what exactly.

As far as the dark buildings are concerned and the spider-like grail structure/shadow:

1) I have these dark buildings as layers of my xcf file, since I work with GIMP and not Photoshop. These layers are big as the image itself 2500x1500, but they also do not have any gif images.
At the moment, I was doing only brighter version, whose layers have been narrowed down to the appropriate scale of the individual image in question (in any way it's less than 2500x1500). In addition, only these images have gif animation, as seen in the first post of this thread. But, when I finish, you can always burn the middleshadows of the images for 25 points in order to get them dark again. I'm not sure if I'll have time to do this. Hopefully, I will.

2) The elements of Spider grail TS are lost due to some problems in the past. However, I have preserved the spider picture, although it is unfinished and not transparent. You can download it now, remove the white background, make the skelly-spider dark, and set its opacity/transparency to somewhere around 20-30. And that's all there is to it.

Here's the download link. There's a Read me file. Please read it. And by the way, the name of the .rar file is Big Layer Files instead of Necro TS, sorry, I'm in a mess these days...

I would like to ask anyone who downloads these files to implement them into H7 game and send a screenshot of an in-game Necropolis townscreen to me (post it here, send me a HC message, or you can email me). Thanks in advance!

I didn't have enough time to improve much TS, but as soon as I find time I'll try to improve the colour scheme and maybe some other things... Though when is that going to happen I'm not sure...

You'll most likely have to change some buildings (Fortification, Archer towers and Moat) in order to make them more H3-friendly, i.e. Moat is built along with the Citadel, which is not the case in H7... Just to notify you...

I like how the marketplace owner is just standing behind the counter ready to sell his products and serve customers He looks pretty angry thou... maybe the business isnt doing too well. I guess there is no escaping the current economy... not even in death

I just came across this thread. I noticed it hasn't been posted on in quite some time, and I am working on a new town idea for HOMM3 VCMI project called Death Valley. I am only in the very beginning stages, but am interested in many of the buildings on this thread. Is this an ongoing project?

IIRC SS "only" did the creative part and gives the data in OP but it has yet to be implemented and converted to mod.
