Misheard Lyrics.. who's guilty??
Hehehe.. a bunch of English students in a room is a bad idea... we ended up talking about lyrics we'd misheard in various songs...
My father misheard the line 'gunpowder, gelatine' in Queen's 'Killer Queen' for 'gunpowder, chedder cheese'.. lool!
Other good one's include:
Dire Straits: Money for nothing
'Money for nothing and your chicks for free'
Heard as: 'Money for nothing and your chips for free
BeeGees: More than a Woman
'More than a woman'
Heard as: 'Bald headed woman
Heaven17: Tempation
'Lead us not into tempation'
Heard as: 'Lead us not into Thames Station
The Bangles: Eternal Flame
'Am I only dreaming?'
Heard as: 'am I only Screaming?'
Got any good one's, guys?

Cat, are you sure about "Money For Nithing"? Because I think it's "Money for nothing and cheques for free". At least it sounds very logical...
And about "What's My Age Again?" - but isn't it really "I walked alone"? I have always thought it is.
Actually I mishear almost everything - it's not easy to understand what is sung in a song. I don't always understand even the lyrics of Bulgarian songs and what about English ones...
However, here is something funny. In "She Bangs" by Ricky Martin there is "she looks like a flower but she stings like a bee". However, I thought it was "she looks like a flower but she stinks like a bee" and couldn't understand what does this mean...

Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze":
Real Lyrics: "Excuse me, while i kiss the sky."
Heard as by many people:
"Excuse me, while i kiss this guy."
Led Zeppelin "Stairway to Heaven"
I don't know the lyrics to the song but around the 7th minute of the song where it gets heavier, it sounds like this to me:
There walks a lady we all know,
As i changed my shoes and go to church,
And if u lsten very hard.
My shoe will leave you alone.
????? on this line,
I am a stone and you are a troll.

Stairway to heaven
The real version is:
and as we wind on down the road,
our shadows taller tha our souls,
ther walks a lady we all know,
who shines white light and wants to show,
how everygthing still turns to gold,
and if you listen very hard,
then the tune will coe to you at last,
when all is one and one is all,
to be a rock and not to roll.
Maybe there are some mistakes, but it's the lyrics I read, and I think it's quite the good version.
I don't understand well english songs. I could have many examples, but I don't remember all.
Nirvana: where did you sleep last night
my girl, don't lie to me,
misheard as: don't let me,
Nirvana:veryape (don't remember the orthographe),
king of inlitterature
misheard as: king of a legion
The lyrics of nirvana are very hard to understand and I always wonder if english or american people can understand them well.

Great topic! Lots of good mishearings at www.kissthisguy.com
And how many of us haven't misheard Toto's lyrics in the song Africa.
"I dressed in vain down in Africa"??
"Kilimanjaro rises like a leper above the Se-rengeti"??
"There's nothing that a hundred men on Mars could ever do"??
And while speaking of Dire Straits, Cat, I had a hard time figuring out why they were obsessed with this sofa that was away from them (isn't sofa english for couch?)
"Sofa away from me, sofa I just can't see..."

The difference is they were singing "So far away from me", not "sofa away from me".
