Hello again!
I would like to repeat my request/suggestion that you provide a fast and basic strategy to beat enemy heroes (mostly red) without the orb of vurnerability.
I think that most players (including me) won't be able to follow such a time-saving playing to the end and get the orb in time so some extra help will be well appreciated.
Please consider it!

Schedule is busy for a while but I'll think about it. One thing for sure - I'd have to use cheats to set up fights because saves are gone since I formatted when I upgraded my OS.

I still have your save file from month 2, week 4, day 7 when orange hero ScytheScroge made the game freeze.
Using both WOG and Era II I found a way to lure him into landing and everything is OK again. I can send you the next day save file if you need it.

Thats odd. I own wakeofgods.org which has 100 GO storage. As I store there more than mods, saves for my maps, utilities, many things related to heroes, you guys could ask me if need to keep things. Currently only 5% is used.

It's not odd, I had problems with some mods and was using a virtual machine to get ERA working. I wanted a clean start on my harddrive, just didn't bother to transfer close to 1GB of saves. In any case, all that is needed to reproduce is shown here

Nikos, right that save remains hosted. I can get to fight the reds relatively quickly by using cheats (like half hour). Since request is 'what if you can't do it as quickly', I will wait some time in-game, say month 5 to have army matching slower progress.

Btw, the theory saying that blind stacks are invisible to AI, it isn't really true. AI will use sacrifice on blind stacks.

True, that's a good point - Sacrifice may be used. I suppose it's important to specify that blinded stacks are, to my knowledge, not considered targets for defensive spells. What I really mean is AI will not attempt to Cure/Dispel blinded stacks. But Sacrifice/Resurrection are valid. Maybe others as well (didn't test) but priority is greatly reduced if AI does consider them.

AI will definitely cast anti magic on blinded stacks -probably not because is blinded but because is coded to. It amazes me as the priorities seem to be on HP and primary stats and not on immediate dangerousness level. I blind his 500 cyclopes when attacking his town, yet he will start systematically by casting anti magic on behes, while they can't and will never be able to hit me.

Now I'm really lost as to why this happens.


Several months after the fact, I've managed to explain this phenomenon with an algorithm.
This post shows the algorithm as well as some basic examples.
This second post shows more examples which explain my post I've quoted above.

Long story short
The 2 situations where it can happen are:
1-AI has higher Tactics skill level than you
2-AI attacks you (irregardless of your Tactics skill level)

How to change behaviour
add/remove a few of your strongest units
AND/OR
add/remove some Attack/Defense from your hero

Either or both will force AI to split/combine its shooters which will make it more manageable.

I downloaded Metataxer's Revenge ages ago, but never got anywhere with it...
I'm now following this guide to the letter, but in M1D2W1 when I re-hire Mr Vertigo I only end up with 15 Enchanters, you seem to get 18?

Also, I'm running it with ERA2 and SAfe SoD as you did, but my HDMod doesn't seem to be working (the game loads as "Heroes III HD" but none of the HDMod stuff (like swapping artifacts/troops between heroes) is there... In the WoG options I disabled everything, is there something else I should/shouldn't be doing?

I'm afraid I don't know why it does this. The only time I remember seeing this happen was when I loaded my save with SoD and HD+ to check something.

The only reference I'm finding right now is erroneous but it might have to do with the bonus 2nd/3rd starting stacks that are random.

EDIT
*100% odds for 6 Enchanters first stack
*75% odds for 3 Enchanters second stack
*25% odds for 1 Enchanter third stack
Couldn't confirm odds but here is link to number of Enchanters and stacks. (russian)

Tribute to Strategists has the following numbers which I'm more inclined to believe:
9% odds only 1 stack
69% odds 2 stacks
22% odds 3 stacks

Downloaded the latest HDMod and copied your settings in, looks like it's working now

Shame about the lack of Enchanters, guess I'll just have to see how I get on with only 15

Since you're using ERA, you could always use the Trainer mod to repair the 9%-screw-you-rng which can have a significant effect this early in the map.
