Hey Bloodsucker, just wanted to answer your last post as I am a mapmaker myself and I don't wan't to sound like a smart-ass just give you a few advices if your map is too easy for you.
* Of course you should play on Impossible, but with a reasonable possiblity of acquiring resources near your starting town.
* Try to make as many towns, artifacts and monsters random as possible, artifacts and monsters by appropriate tiers of course. So even if you know there is a town, a monster or an artifact somewhere, you never know which.
* Some abandoned mines instead of other mines also makes the map less predictable and will maybe prevent you from going straight for the goldmines.
* For level 5 creatures and up check "monster never flees", that way you are forced to fight them, unless they join you.
* If your map contains whirlpools ai will like to use them and they can use them without risk, unlike humans.
* Imo No Town Portal, Dimension Door or Shackles of War and Armageddon's Blade makes for a harder challenge.  
* There are certain skills a human would almost never choose, like First Aid and Learning and I have have disabled those skills from Witch Huts, so ai don't end up with useless skills, you can also disable Eagle Eye and Mysticism or other if you wish.
* I disable Necromancy entirely as Necropolis heroes already start with it and it's not a good skill for non-Necro armies. (Only possible to learn from Scholars anyway)  
* Of course the more impossible you wan't the map to be, the harder should access to resources be, but imo it's not fun hanging around for several weeks unable to do much, so a moderate amount of starting resources I would prefer.
* If you have enabled the grail, make the location completely random and place many obelisk so it's hard for you to find and ai can find it much faster.
* If you have enabled cartographers make them hard to access, guard them heavily  and set a quest guard, level 25 or 30+ so you can't see the entire map too soon.  
* The closer you place ai to your starting town the harder it will be, because you have to do everything you can to buy creatures, I don't find it too fun meeting the ai too soon though.
* You can also consider making several ai's allies against you.

Hey phoenix4ever, the map is ready. I updated the link in the previous post, can you please try it and give the advices when you saw what I did and why?
From my point of view AI should never be able to dig for the grail, for instance. If I want them to have it I can give it from start or I can add an event to their towns, building it in a specific date but I will not force player to loose the 50 points, even cause they don't need the growth or money bonus (it would be insignificant after month 2) and I don't want them to get all spells, map revealed, etc...

And I have a new record. Just for beating the AI, I still never really finnished the map, there are a lot of challenges and quests to get dragons faster instead of just wait for them to grow in dwellings. But until now I was always wanting to add something else so I usually restarted from here. But now this part is done and the rest I know it is possible, cause is just a question of do the math. Still have to test it, though.

So I tried your map bloodsucker and I'm afraid the map was not really my cup of tea, it was simply too huge and too much stuff in it. Yeah that might sound weird, but I prefer a map that can be completed in a day or two without rushing, so this map was a little too much for me.
Except for the size I can't really complain though, but I feel like there where too many Witch Huts and Prisons. (Prison heroes starting without spellbook is a little inconvenient)
I did'nt play so long and did'nt get to get any Azure Dragons, so I am sorry I haven't got much too say about the map, there is a lot to see and do, but I feel like less is more, if you know what I mean.
I have never played maps bigger than XL +underground, so that might be why.

Thanks, as I said before I am still making too many changes but the heroes level is capped at 72, if you know what I mean... And that idea is to keep. But I agree with you about the spellbook, I already put one in all significant heroes. Did you ever saw Mutare, not Mutare Drake, Mutare as the most powerfull hero purple has? If that happen you will probaly lose...
My first battle today. BTW, fighting against azure dragons, what do you think was the troop that outshined?

No, I did'nt meet Mutare or any enemy heroes for that matter. I did'nt play so long and did'nt get or faced any Azure Dragons.
Again I guess I was a little overwhelmed by the scale of it.
Can you really get to level 72?, that must take tons of xp...

So you don't know... Yes, you can get to level 72, the problem is when you get above that level. Things get a little wierd, after an incredible amount of experience more you can get to level 0. Same goes to prims, they grow above 99, in fact they can grow up to 128, then it turns to 0 (or 1 if spellpower or knowledge) and you can't gain them anymore. This problem is so frequent Salamadre made a mod called Overflow-fix to solve it (in WoG, of course).

Yes I have heard about it, but I've never played WoG or reached such high levels myself. But can you get to level 72 naturally or is there like 40 Trees of Knowledge?

Yes I know, but after 72 you start jumping levels. In Wog, playing the duel against cruzaders in the Adventure Cave with literally billions of nagas I once got Neela to level zero. So, to avoid these problems I capped the map at level 72, if any hero acchives that level he will gain no more experience.

And this time it was I who found her...       and the results

Those 60 Archangels were clones, right?
I always wondered why it counted clones as losses, same with elemental summons.

Yep. Crag with Water (Prayer and Clone) and she had the Cape of Silence.
Clones give no expereince but elementals do. When they start summoning I often wait till they get out of spellpoints to kill them, to level up faster. So they should count as losses, clones I don't know.
The problem with Bad Girl is not her specialty or her prims, she starts with Diplomacy (probably Expert) and 12 Azure Dragons in an area full of big time monsters. Before I had her guarded by Azure Dragons (8 set to not grow and she had also 8) and I know from experience it can get nasty. I freed her a cople of times before I decide it was better to have a quest for Mutare Drake, cause it was becoming an habit. I even guarded a place for her in my army plans  sometimes...

Water Magic with Crag Hack is interesting, I bet he likes Mass Bless, Mass Prayer and Clone.

Ugh I hate when ai uses Cape of Silence, Recanter's Cloak and Orb of Inhibition, but it's good they are there to force different strategies.

Yeah that is a problem when playing your own map, getting habits and knowing the map too well, that's why I try to keep everything as open and unpredictable as possible.

I wish HotA would nerf Town Portal and Dimension Door, as I feel they should be there, but are FAR too strong in there original state.
Also if ai knew how to use Berserk, I would fear it a lot more.

Look she is back, on another player's hands. This is exactly what I wanted, I killed her last week and she is already back.
I also apreciate a certain randomness but if you put monsters to random you can't set their quantities or can you?
I'm doing that with some monsters They are set to complaint and certain quantities but no level and you start with Grotto. I once sacrifized 44 behemoths the second week. Everything is worth to make Dessa faster, when you know the other time has more then a dozen Azure and you depend on the joinners he gets and the banks he creeps.

I remember reading somewhere that the AI can see the whole map from the beginning, but in order to look realistic, it's pretending to explore it and stuff, as for battles, like people here have said, every time the AI acts the exact same way.

Yeah ai is pretty predictable and in battle it loves to spam the same spells over and over, Blind, Summon X Elemental or just cast some damage spell, don't like it when that damage spell is Armageddon though.

Should be easy to check, no? Generate a random map and edit it. Just give a few AI players only Towns without Tavern and a single starting Hero and place a few map Taverns around. Give yourself a Tower with a Grail, so you can see the entire map (might want to prevent Necropoli, though, due to their Cover of Darkness ). Then just wait a number of turns.
