I'm still contemplating if I'll try out HoMM V... VIII lol, that seems ridiculous to me, sorry to say.. I don't want an endless amount of sequels that all are practically the same game with slightly altered graphics and should perhaps only have been expansions at the most.. I want the company to show they're invested in the product they send out on the market, that they'll update and fix issues even long after they don't get much income from the product anymore, and not release a whole new and unfinished product in stead.
I've heard they made HoMM V into a good game eventually, have they done so with HoMM VI, not to mention VII? If not, I won't even consider HoMM VIII.

Go directly for H5.5. Many gameplay fixes, better and faster AI, better optimization overall, textures are MUCH better (original visuals are IMO horrible) etc.
It's a very good game, in some regards even better than H3 (skill system), even if I prefer H3 overall.

Voted that if the brand is sold to another publisher and dev.
Just like 9 other voters of this poll, I chose that it is now, time for a change of Publisher/Developers that can orchestrate a proper development of the next title of this magnificent series.
Why not do like Capcom and let dozens of development companies work insynchronously and publish a fully polished game within a mere 1 year or 2 years at the most?
Besides, a video game will remain a mere video game, right? I definitely do think and believe so. No matter the platform it can come onto. Moreover, the game consoles, these days, tend to become very powerful desktop PCs. Heck, even NVIDIA has its own game console launched onto the world markets already. Steam has its own also.
A golden age of gaming consoles that can run todays PC games with relative ease is now, afoot.

Here, I thought, to make something legendary, a franchise that would be remembered for generations (or, at least, dozens of years) was about making sequels.
But yeah, making sequel for the sake of having a sequel shouldn't work. Probably one of the reasons why the last two games are not well-received.

No, only HoMM V was made into a worthy successor with patches (better for me than H3, as i am not that much into aesthethics and lore).
