Lol, for a second there, my memory had mistaken The Pretenders for The Platters (The Great Pretender) and I was like “that’s a really unusual name for a Pretenders song!”

Yup. The fact that the mix works really well just goes to show how ordinary the songs are.
Can't really stand Sweet Home Alabama and Fat Bottomed Girls ... well, the whole Jazz album is ... not good.

On the contrary, I like both songs (and both bands), so this is interesting to listen for me. I tend to like easy when the structure is pentatonic, easier when it comes from bluesy tradition.

To each their own.
I'm ambivalent when it comes to Queen, because their work is so erratic. 3 eminently brilliant albums and a lot of crap.
Lynrd Skynrd, well. Free Bird is nice - but even that one becomes boring because it's too long (coming from someone who loves a good solo).
Anyway, Sweet Home Alabama is on my banned list of ridiculously overplayed silly songs.
