I understand that some people work from home (like me) and that they have families they need to take care of, maybe even more then ever because everyone sits in home. But there are weekends and at the same time in countries like Poland we recently had even more prohibition rules layed upon the society. It's even hard to go for a walk with family now. Some people do enjoy playing games with their family members and, for example, Animal Crossing is ideal to share.
That said I don't want to pry, just curious...
I'm one of those who enjoy playing with the family Even if I usually play games alone. Yesterday we played Diablo 3.
It's no big deal, I understand you're curious.

It's a blessing to have possibility to work in times of pandemic outbreak like we have. In my country many small businesses like barbers, restaurants or shops will have to be closed simply because they don't generate income now (while our government proposes only some short-term solutions to help them) and there are talks of various mass lay-offs in bigger companies.
I was thinking about weekends rather, usually people spend them with their families on various activities but they don't have such options now.
Back to Switch: there are rumors many Mario games will have a remake for the 35th anniversary of the series. Speculations are about Paper Mario, 64, both Galaxies and Sunshine.
I recently finished Odyssey, and while Galaxy is still the supreme Mario game in my eyes, the latter is a very good, satisfying and fun game, especially on the nostalgic level: there is a Mario costume that changes him into his 64 "blocky" version, there are various "8-bit" side-scroll style Mario levels sprinkled here and there, and the ending is simply put a tribute to first games.

Speaking about Mario and Nintendo, did you hear about their collaboration with LEGO to create interactive Mario sets?
Edit: I've seen it (also comments from AFOLs who said they aren't too interested in it and that it's better bought for kids. I agree with them). Thanks for sharing a link for those who didn't see it.

I agree, I am very happy to be able to keep working in these hard times, even though in France we have social security and most who are not able to work still get partially paid.
Yes weekends, I also work on weekends. I have a bit of time here and there to play but it can only remain casual; I can't afford to start off for instance a game like Zelda because it's the kind of game you don't want to play on the clock (and if I buy a switch it's first and foremost for this game).

Well Animal Crossing NH is fun but I have one major issue with it: it's a collectors nightmare For those who don't know one of the elements of the game is filling out your critterpedia with bugs and fish which appear at various time of day/night, env (river, sea) or season.
You can spend a few hours searching for that elusive fish or bug with no luck, and suddenly when you least expect it they come in throngs. I literally spend 2 hours searching for some rare butterflies, only to have them appear one after another once I restarted the game a while later
Also to catch fish you can use fish bait: first you need to dig for a specific type of clam (fortunately it's easily distinguishable), but then you need to craft the bait one-at-a-time. Who would've thought Nintendo won't use such a convenient qol thing like crafting several items of the same type in one batch in their game...
I can't count how many baits I used to capture a super rare Stringfish but I would say 200 at least...
Relaxing game my ass!

I don’t know why, but the new console from Nintendo just infuriates me. It looks amazing, but the design is not the main thing. I tried to play games on this console and frankly it was just a terrible game experience. In addition, the full configuration of the console is very expensive and not everyone can buy it. It seems to me that this was a real failure of the company. Look at the reviews of top bloggers and you will understand that not only I think so. I really liked the old Nintendo consoles and their games. These were real masterpieces in the gaming industry. I would love to buy updated versions of old consoles than the new Nintendo switch. In addition, so far, you can find excellent emulators on the Internet, which allow playing snes roms of my childhood. You will get a lot of emotions!

Lol the meme is real.
Steve from Minecraft in Smash Bros Ultimate
Btw I was quite surprised to see that after the famous Smash molester case it turned out that my man xD1x was also accused and his no longer active. There was I time I kinda enjoyed his content and thought Smash community is pretty fun. Turned out they're scums and sexual predators lol (when drinking)
EDIT 2: Ok, they've added Sephiroth to Smash (plus Sakurai showed yet again how much love he puts into all the details like the stage or 9 new music tracks). Time to buy that Challenger Pack 2.
PS: R.I.P. Geno as full-fledged fighter. The salt is real in the community

The 17.02 Direct was underwhelming.
Can't believe this was all they had to show after 18 months. Corona or not. This year is looking bleak for Switch unless they yet have some aces up their sleeves.

I really think the directs are majority for Nintendo to make money off smaller devs to showcase their games. The description for the direct being 50 mins of upcoming titles...they have a lot of titles announced years ago with little word since. It’s not unreasonable to expect an update on at least Metroid or botw 2. 35th anniversary stuff is something I was hoping to hear about.
But instead a long reel of non Nintendo stuff played. And if m sure it costs a lot to be showcased in a direct, and Nintendo is greedy. Directs used to be way more enjoyable but they’ve turned into something else in my eyes. I’ve sat out the last few and just checked the next day on what got announced, if anything. I gave this one a shot cuz they said 50 mins, but now I feel dumb for falling for it lol. It was a trap. Just a long ad for games I couldn’t give two slaps about with some Nintendo sprinkled in. The tbs game that doesn’t even have a title, but has a demo (lol), looks cool. But idc about another game that’s years away...

The point is, some Directs in the past were really enjoyable and I was being surprised by the sheer amoount of content and good stuff in some cases (remember the Nintendo won E3 memes?). I would go as far as to say it was a sort of celebration for fans.
You could say "shame on people for getting their hopes up" after a year of pandemic, but I think Nintendo really did pull a trick on us: after 18 months of waiting a few small teasers of some of the big shot games would be ok while we got practically nothing.
In reality it felt like it was created on short notice. And some of the games well... I understand money's involved, I'm not naive (EA's Knockout City cough cough), but it was a big slap in the face for the starved fans (and let's be realistic - Directs are watched by the die-hard fans mostly). To show games like Star Wars Hunters or DC Super Hero Girls Teen Power felt like they had some kind of quota to fill up...
Actually the only things that sparked any kind of reaction in me was new Smash character and Project Triangle (the demo is pretty nice btw), so even I feel cheated XD. Yeah I know it was not that bad, there were updates on some popular games like No More Heroes 3, Monster Hunter Rise plus Ninja Gaiden, Legend of Mana or Zelda: Skyward Sword remasters - but those are things they could've easily announced as part of smaller directs.
At the end of the day I think what most people were salty about was not what the Direct was, but what it wasn't...

Well, continuing our last convo about directs I want to double down on normal directs being an ad reel for non Nintendo stuff
That POKÉMON direct tho, was dope! New Pokémon snap looks great, remakes of diamond and pearl, and that new Pokémon legends game looks like what I was imagining when they were brining Pokémon to console. Happy to see something totally brand new, yet familiar

Well, I don't know...
Pearl & Diamond remake on one hand looks ok... but the "chibi" characters put me off. The look bad in full 3D.
And Legends? It's the same bad engine as S&S. Why won't they make a game on Pokkens enigine? It's the best looking Pokemon game to date. It just... still looks lazy. One good quality about this game seems to be in the fact that Pokemon finally move in battle. Also the whole "wilderness" theme seems to be taking inspiration from Temtem. I think they heard the critique of S&S...
Compare it to the vivid graphics of New Snap, which is actually the only game that I might be slightly interested in.

The overworld graphics look bad on the remakes for sure, but if the animations are done better then I can overlook that.
But man, I’m hype for the way Legends is looking. Very breath of the wild-like with that huge wilderness look. The dodge roll and aiming the pokeball from far away..this is the kind of reimagined Pokémon experience I was wanting to come to consoles. The graphics don’t need to be top notch, switch graphics never are, so if they ditch the linear story and forced progression then this looks perfect for me.
Plus the three starters from three other gens, and none of them from gen one, was a nice touch.

Nintendo E3 conference today.
After so many lackluster months I do hope they will finally blast off with some cool things.
This years E3 has been pretty lackluster altogether...
EDIT: I think the Direct was decent, a lot better then the previous one. My highlights:
- Advanced Wars Remake! Def gonna pick this up (still no new title though)
- New WarioWare - I'm more interested in it then I would think, enjoyed playing it on DS
- BotW 2 - while I'm not that hyped as everyone and their grandma (game looks more of the same), the trailer was decent.
- New Metroid game is also pretty dope
Could've used some more unexpected surprises but still, a solid presentation.
