Dark folklore stories
I've just recently read an article about a local vampire. Apparently, he may be the first vampire ever, before it became cool.
Apparently, the man, named Jure Grando, died in the 17th century. However, the people saw a certain figure lurking around town and has been knocking on the doors. Every time there was a knocking on someone's door, a person inside the house would die in a few days. Furthermore, Jure's widow reported how Jure visited her and even attacked her (sexually). For 16 years this happened before the villagers banded together to defeat this guy.
They opened his grave and were terrified to see he was smiling at them with red cheeks. The leader of the village managed to inspire bravery and gave a prayer to banish this "evil". They used a hawthorn stick to pierce his heart, but the stick deflected off his body. One man used an axe and severed the vampire's head. The vampire screamed as the grave was filled by his blood. There were no further attacks nor harassments.

pretty much all fairy tales we have here that involves evil stepmothers or witches can be considered "dark".
You have old hags being tricked into eating their own daughters, shoved into ovens, had their brain scattered around and a lot of other super fun stuff.

Ye my worst mistake as a kid is reading Russian fairy tales as a kid, I thought Baba Yaga was the typical disney witch mischievous and liked to trick people but generally good hearted.....****ing nope... Man I had nightmares for days (I was a wee lad back then 5-6 IIRC). Whoever drew the illustrations be damned to hell lol.
