That's reassuring. Sounding as it may, would you consider Ubisoft as well? With this AMA going on, you could even ask Yves directly if he'd be interested to review your project.

Well, you do not ask a major company for funding something that hasn't passed the proof of concept stage. Unless you have a name to yourself.

But you would need to ask your question in a more neutral way, e.g.
"Do you have plans to sell the Might & Magic franchise or produce a MMH8?"

Personally I would rather opt for Lizzie's variant, a more direct and less neutral tone transmists the message we've been utterly fed up, in fact I find his formulation rather moderate. Ubisoft are so disconnected Yves might even think the IP is not selling good enough because of the genre or something similar, and not because of the constant rape and abuse the series suffered throughout the past decade. Also h6 and h7 are so atrocious we tend to be too clement with the horrible 3D, lore and art direction h5 suffered.

Yves built a sizable company. He is definitely not dumb and can think. If you can find a way to explain the issues to him with a few questions, he will think about what he learned.

btw I will assume Yves is only doing this out of desperation as a PR move to try and curry a bit of public sympathy, because for sure he knows that Vivendi will soon eat Ubisoft and for his ego it is a problem that most people do not care and even actually approve of that lol

He may be out of his comfort zone. Having built something for years and then realizing that they loose ground without understanding why.

There's no need for any assumptions of the sort. He's doing it following Ubisoft's press conference at E3. It's only natural that people might have a lot of questions about the games they'll see presented there, so he uses the opportunity to do an AMA.

You mentioned JVC. Is there any news regarding the success of Creature Quest, as this would be prerequisite for JVC to buy the Might & Magic IP back?

There is around 10k active players for Creaeture Quest and I believe the micro-transactions are doing good, I see a lot of players with the VIP exclusive creature.
I don't know if you've seen this more or less recent interview from JVC, I think with Matt Chat, where when asked if he'd do a spiritual successor to Might and Magic he replied in such case he'd rather buy it back. IMHO there is definitely something to be played here. Even if you explain to Yves (which I doubt), I have close to zero faith in Ubisoft while I trust 100% JVC.

10K doesn't sound like a lot. As I understood it, JVC has quite a sizeable team on Creature Quest.

Working under Ubisoft is far more realistic than buying the Might & Magic IP. I can't say for sure just how many are playing, but I doubt it's more than 10.000. The number of gold groups that were opened at the time of my departure was around 4-5, with 1000 players each, silver and bronze are not as populated. The game has been at less than 500.000 downloads for several months, and given the "Share with friends" campaigns I think they're starving for more.

It's a great game, but it seems that what JVC said in an interview is coming to surface: the trick is how to keep your playerbase. I know a lot of people that quit after playing for less than 3 months and I imagine many others left after I did.

agree fully, one can tell he is going for a scorched earth tactic, for instance having greenlit the fan favorite development hell game Beyond Good and Evil 2 as soon as Vivendi ramped up their effort, knowing that Vivendi will have to cancel it because it is a pie in the sky project,

really many of his latest actions are Desperate Dan ones focused on trying to spite Vivendi and make his legacy look good rather than simply benefit Ubisoft lol

I doubt JVC would take orders from Ubisoft about his own game, especially given how far apart their respective visions are, and with this company's policies, it might even turn out awful with the usual alpha-state launch sold as final product.

I don't see what's so unrealistic about selling the IP, with their recent success it is possible they might lose faith in the brand and selling it could look as an opportunity to them. But that is how I feel.

Maybe you should mention to Yves that JVC would be willing to do that, if that is the case.

I don't think that they would sell it for less than $15M.

Well I'm not the one buying.

I don't know how wealthy JVC is or how much he'd be willing to pay if he ever take this decision. What I do know though, is that Ubisoft employees think no one would be interested in buying the IP (that was what I was replied when I asked one of them if they'd be willing to sell it).

For sure, JVC having the rights to Might & Magic again while being his own employer is the best case scenario, but I doubt it's a realistic one. He'd be better off starting another IP from scratch than barter with Ubisoft over the franchise. There's a difference of potentially tens of million dollars in there which JVC could never afford.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is entirely in the hands of the guy in charge of the first part. Ubisoft has given him free reign while he works on another project.

I don't know what it would take to make them see how their attitude towards DRM and fan communities has cost them dearly.

I remember the interview Galaad mentioned in which JVC said he rather will buy the IP back before doing a spiritual successor.

But maybe figuring out that Creature Quest won't earn him the funds will make him reconsider.

He what? Burrn!

Seriously if the timing is as suspicious as it sounds, it's infuriating.
