anyone know what happened to the online homm3 creature bank?
because it's not available anymore. did anyone make a backup of ALL the units that were ever made for homm3? is there a way we can compile them all online? and i mean EVERY SINGLE UNIT EVER MADE for homm3(not just the ones that used to be found in the online creature bank). let's make this happen, people. i have some that i can upload in order to help build the library, but not all of them(especially not the ones that people have uploaded here using temporary links that have since expired).

A noble effort, but what safeguard will there be against the new library disappearing as well in a while down the road? The biggest killer to these things as I see it are websites (and their underlying databases) getting shutdown due to lack of payment for hosting the site or simple neglect by the owner of the site, without contingency plan for preservation of the content.

i don't have as many as i used to, since i've been weeding out what i didn't need/couldn't use(due to faulty down-attack animations, primarily).
i could upload what i have left, but it'd pale in comparison to what i had, and especially in comparison to what was on the creature bank webpage.*
there are more than a few creature defs out there, that were only available for a limited time(due to the uploader uploading them to a temporary link that has long since expired). i'd like to see all of those, as well.
*i just realized, that i most likely have all the creatures i deleted, backed up on an external. i'll check through that and see if i can't come up with a compilation upload.

ok, all the old creature stuff i downloaded from the creature bank and from the wog forum that i had deleted, i found on my original backup. i'm going to organize it all into the appropriate folders, and make sure there are no duplicates. i think i have the bulk of what was out there before everything disappeared(or the websites went down). probably 70+ % of it all. and i know that's not even all of what i have; i'll have to check my current files for more, as well.

barring duplicates, i should have over 1000 creature defs to upload(i have over 3000 defs total, but i'm supposing that 2/3 of them are adventure map defs. i could be wrong about that, though). i'm still organizing them all and getting rid of duplicates as i go. when i have an exact number(after everything's sorted), i'll let ya'll know.
is anyone else gathering creature defs, or am i alone in this?

show who how what's done? show an unknown larger number of uninterested people how one person who already has a laundry list of things to do, compiles 1000+ defs for only one other interested person? lol, wtf?
tell ya what i'll do: since only one other person is interested, i'll make an upload of what i've got compiled and organized right this second, and share it with only them through hcm. sound good?

PS i think ill have most of creature defs from diff. Places. But if you will pm me with link to archive, ill gladly will download it and maybe find something missed earlier:-)

i have no idea. none of the creature banks exist anymore. which is why i wanted to get everyone to compile what they had downloaded/made, so that we could host it all at one place. it seems sensible to have it here, since hc isn't going anywhere anytime soon. knock on wood.
@ anti: there's no way we could credit every one of these creatures to their respective authors(they were all mostly uncredited on the creature bank websites themselves). i have 356mb of creatures. their number is in the thousands, man. what you're proposing is far more work than anyone here is willing to do, myself included.
so i take it that more people are interested? i may continue with this project, if enough people are invested in it.

I'd say a general disclaimer would suffice then? About that they are the property of their respective owners, who are too numerous to list all. And if someone disagrees with their creation being on the bank, to contact you so you can remove it from the bank.

There are about 1000 creatures in Era [UTILITIES], downloadable at wakeofgods.org/mods. 95% of those creatures are 3D max ripped from other games, so they have a great definition and animations.
