I played for a few weeks and quickly realised the only fix for bad luck on summons was spending money (never got a good creature); once I passed the newbie ladder, there was no way of competing against paying players.

It was a good idea but the p2w structure is absolutely repellent.
Maybe one should realise some day, the idea behind such games is NOT 100% free players compete with pfw players, but 100% free players ARE ABLE TO PLAY the same game as pfw players, they just reach their goals (much) later.

If you don't want to spend money, keep playing for fun and not for competition...this is possible...I do (did) it for many other games too

Even in Supermechs I got to tier 2 (of 30) being a free player and just didin't keep going because a biug robbed me of my rewards for completing mission... twice. And I was a F2P vs the P2W and I had good chances.

It looks like in Creature Quest you have no chances to be competitive at all for free.

Well again, I know couple of F2P players making it into the top 3 in competition, against what many folks think some are even in Stickers. Yes, it asks for a lot of grinding, but it IS possible.
We also have a chunk F2P/VIP1 in HC guild and they are doing fine in competition too. Top 3 rewards aren't mandatory to progress/play/compete either.
Where I agree is you can enjoy the game without being competitive as well, which is actually what I did at first, get better through PvE first (the time you get good creatures and a good grip of the strategy).

Some others will start playing and if after two weeks they can't beat players that are max level they shout P2W...

People tend to forget that to be "competitive" you don't need to strive for the 1st place or the top 5 or even the top 100. You just need to strive to be higher than you currently are. And that is something that most games allow for F2P, CQ included.

Another of these 'I quit' things.

As usual, I'm getting repeatedly harvested for prestige by the same players. Several times per day, and there's nothing that I can do about it since they're over 100+ levels above me. And to make it more annoying, I'm pretty sure that it's multi-accounting since the attacks always happen within minutes of each other and they're in the same guild.

From what I've seen, this has been a problem for months and the devs have no interest in balancing it.

Unless you're a whale and can keep buying endless challenge points, there's really no point in trying to compete in this game.
