Zerg (VCMI)

So I've been having a lot of fun messing with modded towns for vcmi with Zeryss and everyone else on these forums, (you guys rock btw). That being said i have several side projects i've been working on for myself to mess with and i've been having so much fun making this one that i figured i'd share it with everyone. Here some pictures and videos, when i finish the roster i'll put out a beta. The town screen is actually further along than this video shows.

Only creatures are not zerg...

Can you make the same for Protoss and Terran townscreens later?

sorry had to fix pictures, i've started on the creatures, there are some gifs above =). Maybe i'll do the rest, zeryss inspired this town screen with a mock up he made and showed me and i just ran with it.

Great but needs correction. Gnoll hut and other classic towns buildings clonnig is visible.  Better will be correct it.

gnoll hut? Those are all building sprites ripped directly from starcraft. no gnoll huts were harmed in its creation. The building icons all need to be changed those are just place holders.

I was thinking what about making the Townhall line such as:
Cerebrate Cocoon -> Cerebrate Fledgeling Cerebrate -> First Cerebrate
and the Overmind as the "Grail Building"?

The troop tree could go as:
Lv1: Larvae->Drone
Lv1: Zergling(SC1) -> War Zergling(SC2 Zergling)
Lv1: Hydralisk(SC1) -> Hunter-Killer Hydralisk (SC2 Hydralisk)
Lv1: Mutalisk -> Wasp
Lv1: Queen(SC1) -> Broodmother(SC2 Queen)
Lv1: Defiler -> Plaguebringer
Lv1: Ultralisk(SC1)->Gigalisk(SC2 ultralisk)

That's pretty much the lineup i had in mind hehe. For now i just want to get the last 3 buildings into the town screen and churn out all of the creatures then with everyone's help on here we can rearrange it all and balance it up.

I agree that the Cerebrate buildings would be the Town Hall-line ups and that Hatchery, Lair and Hive are the Fort, Citadel and Castle.

Overmind or even the Mature Chrysalis would be neato for Grail building.

Magic Guild = Evolution Chamber
Blacksmith = Baneling Nest ?? (Not entirely sure. Could be swapped with Lurker Den and Lurker as a potential new War Machine? )
Tavern = Queen's Nest/Infestor Pit
Marketplace + Resource Silo = Defiler Mound (With its crystals being the Resource Silo perhaps?)
Nydus Worm/Canal pretty much works like Inferno's Castle Gate


Might hero: Queen (SC2)
Magic hero: Infestor

LVL 1 : Zergling > Devouring One (Walker)
Dwelling: Spawning Pool + Growth building for that.

LVL 2 : Roach > Ravager (2-hex. Though it is a ranged attacker, I think I'll make it so it is a tanky walker instead. Also because we got quite the line-up of shooters for the higher tiered ones.)
Dwelling: Roach Warren

LVL 3 : Hydralisk > Hunter Killer (Shooter... with no melee penalty?)
Dwelling: Hydralisk Den

LVL 4 : Lurker > Impaler (2-hex. Walker. Usually it attacks when burrowed underground, but maybe it's attack animation works in a way it burrows underground and does a breath attack-type of move? idk)
Dwelling: Lurker Den

LVL 5 : Mutalisk > Devourer/Corruptor (Flier. Mutalisk casts a number of spells which works like chain lightning with its glave wurm-attack. Devourer/Corruptor is a shooter and casts slow on target based on how corruption is working in the RTS)
Dwelling: Spire

LVL 6 : Guardian > Brood Lord (Flier, Shooter. Brood Lord spawns a level 1-unit from its attack being the Broodling and but is about as weak as a Zergling)
Dwelling: Greater Spire (or something else?)

LVL 7 : Ultralisk > Brutalisk (2-hex. 3-hex attack like Cerberus with its Kaiser Blades. Walker.)
Dwelling: Ultralisk Caverns

Keep in mind that i have stuck to using the sc1 gfx for the buildings, adapting the ones from sc2 would probably take some effort hehe. Here is a super duper very very early unfinished demo if you guys want to see what i've done so far.

considering most of the defs out today are of material from other games and i'm not here trying to make a profit, i'm not all too worried about blizzard kicking my door in trying to stop me. I'm sure if the mods feel the need to bump this off of the forums then it will happen but i'm pretty sure that won't stop me from finishing =).

Nice work. Copyright should be not a problem at all. SC1 is now officially free to play already.

I just hate the great firewall. It just make everything difficult for me.

I'm having some problems with some of the models rigging not importing correctly. The queen being the worst one with one of her arms going all nuts. https://www.dropbox.com/s/g31jzzibuile0cl/queen.rar?dl=0 if anyone with any blender experience wants take a look at the file to see if there is a quick way to fix the animation without me having to go through and remap all the keyframes for the 1 busted arm i'd love you forever!
