Tips&Tricks
Hi all!
People lets shear small tricks that we came up so fare playing H4.
Let me start:
Sometimes I choose genies over naga because of clone magic. If you have a good stack of genies they can clone a couple of 4 level creatures from enemy army.
Another thing is that it always good to have a big stack of 1 level creatures in the army. Than I can put them in front of my army and most of the time enemies shooters will attack them instead attacking important high level creatures.

Choose your friends carefully. Your enemies will choose you.

When playing either the Haven or the Preserve, a very easy spell combo to get is any summon line with Martyr. Let those summoned stacks take the damage for those troops you actually want to keep.
This also works with Illusion spells and raise/animate dead spells, but these combos are harder to get because there is only one Illusion spell (as opposed to a few summons each level) and because Death and Life are not allies respectively.

1: Mages Poison Behemoths
Genies slow behemoths
Hero Icebolts behemoths
Halflings shoot behemoths
2: Everyone shoots/icebolts behemoths
3: Hero waits
Everyone else shoots/icebolts behemoths
Hero teleports behemoths to far end of map
4: Repeat 2 & 3 for as long as you're having fun
Big stacks of slow creatures are soooooo much fun for Order armies

Always devide youre angels in two stacks
so youre able to ressurect more
and the angels can ressurect the other angels
Or cast guardian thingy on them so when an angel dies its
ressurected immediately
Angels are kinda expensive so better be carefull with them.

You can't do this since the behemoths will be divided in 4 stacks so you have to control all of them .

I've simplified the example, yes you can
Slow with the genies and hero in the first round and slow everything with the genies and teleport with the hero in the rounds after that
On snow behemoths take about 5 rounds to reach you
(or forever ;-)

Can you give an example? How much behemots can you beat like that with how much troops? Ex: 1 genie, 1 genie, 1 genie,
? genies, 1 hero, ? mages, ? halflings vs ? behemoths.
That can give some support to the discussion otherwise it's only theoretical. I accept the general idea but the example depends simply on the numbers involved.

Cyclops are able to shoot creatures in the arrow tower and creatures adjacent to arrow tower.
Cast Martyr on the creatures with much health to protect your hero and then start casting Guardian Angel to the creatures with martyr. So long as those creatures are alive (and with Guardian Angel they WILL be alive for long) your hero just won't die. You can protect as many heroes and creatures you want this way. All damage redirected to the one creature stack which just resurrect its itself when they die. To boost the combo cast Vampiric Touch on the creature who is martyrized.

ursula, all the level 4 creatures are 4000 gold plus two precious resources, except black dragons, but their growth rate is half the normal, champions, but their growth rate is twice the norm, behemoths, and thunderbirds (doesn't count because stronghold has magic penalty). So angels are not really more expensive than other level 4 units.

1. Assuming your hero is always protected by an immortality potion, if you run out of SP get your hero killed. A resurrected hero always has full spell points. At high levels, this makes immortality potions recover more SP than a mana potion.
2. If playing nature/death, if your summoned spellcaster stack (faerie dragon, devil) runs out of mana summon some more. If you summon any amount more, the full stack recovers 100% of their mana.
3. This is probably more of a bug exploit, but if you reload a saved game all quests can be done again, even if you already did it once.
4. Give all items that increase the group's combat stats to the 1st hero in your group, because they don't work on the 2nd, 3rd, etc. heroes. So a Dwarven Shield, +20% to everyone's DEF, only works if the 1st hero equips it. Other type items, like boots of travel & pathfinding gloves, work on any hero.
5. If you have a powerful spell that affects 1 stack, like Hypnotize, try dumping out monsters from your own group because the enemy tries to match how many stacks you have.

Oh my favorite:
1. Hypnotize enemy stack
2. Cast martyr on enemy stack, protecting one your units
3. When Hypnotize runs out, the enemy stack is still a Martyr. It will absorb all the damage that it does to you.
