MapMaker AW contest 2019
Yesterday we ended first stage of the MapMaker 2019 contest and now we begin second stage
It got hot - literally and figuratively - we have as many as 29 qualified maps and three months to play the scenarios!
Who will win in this year edition of MapMaker We know one thing for sure - It is going to be a very fierce competition since all sent scenarios are amazingly handcrafted, therefore, the more we encourage You to download and evaluate. For the most active reviewers we provide a lot of attractive prizes (including calendars and mugs). Contest's minimaps below:
More details:
Yesterday we finished the first stage of the Mapmaker contest so now it is possible to download maps sent to the contest. We encourage You to play, and after completing scenario to share your gameplay experience and judge fairly the map!
Same as it has been through the last years, for the most active reviewers we have prepared a lot of attractive prizes (besides traditional heroes 3 mugs and calendars).
A brief summary of the maps sent:
There are 29 absolutely new and oryginal scenarios that take part in the contest
The vast majority of the contest maps - as many as 22 are prepared on the basis of Horn of The Abyss, 5 maps are based on The Shadow of Death, one on "Armageddon's Blade" and one on "In The Wake of Gods".
Contest maps sorted by size:
S - 5 maps
M - 8 maps
L - 8 maps
XL - 2 maps
XH - 2 maps
G - 4 maps
We have three months to evaluate the contest maps (until September 30). How to grade the map (a fast guide):
1. Go to the list of competition maps
2. Click 'Details' next to the map you want to rate
3. At the bottom of the page, click "Add contest grade"
In this year edition of the contest, similarly to the previous one, we pay special attention to the descriptive justification of the numerical evaluation. We want to be sure that the reviewer has actually played a given scenario, and the numerical evaluation is well-argued.
We wish participants and players a lot of fun

It puzzles me that after all those years Heroes 3 was still up, people continue to design maps in rarely spoken languages then want others to play them.
Within 1-2 exceptions for 1-2 fantastic chinese maps, I know no H3 map written in some klingon language and then who made it up to today.
No english: limited players, simple as that. Sorry for negative review, but I want to be capable to read a map description then the events, otherwise is a no go for me.

Well it is hard to demand from mapmaker to do their work in both language (since it is our first semi-english edition), however, some of them tried and make their scenarios/events on the map also in english so they are understandable.
Nevertheless I see Your points and we will try to encourage more player to do that in the upcoming MapMaker 2020 edition. Moreover, all opinions are welcome since they will help us improve our contest - so nothing to feel sorry for
