I have my doubts. Mass spells cost 4 times the normal cost and might heroes already lacked the mana to cast many mass spells at double the cost. That option is probably out unless you play an overblown map. Maybe the high costs are fine for magic heroes since the magic skills have been heavily overhauled but I get the feeling that the whole thing requires very high levels and more than a few artifacts.

no, might heroes are not supposed to be able to cast mass spells many times, if mass spells only cost 10-12 mana a might hero can cast it many times easily, if you start with 1 K then get +2 from levelups, +2 from advmap buildings and +4 from artifacts, easily done on small map. To make things worse mass spells dispel the enemy mass spells, so mass slow can be reverted easily 7 times making the effort from a magic hero pointless. Also if a might hero is able to sustain mass rm/bloodlust constantly boosting its already much higher attack rating, victory is inevitable.
