Max heroes

HI guys
I always play small and medium maps with 200% dificulty. And that because it's the only way to play real HOMM3. In big maps or maps where there is lot of money or you start with many money, you buy too many heroes and you start that "chain hero gaming" . This is not the purpose of the game guys. So it would be perfect if there was an option to have 3 or 4 max heroes, or a general option to set whatever number of max heroes. IT MUST BE DONE. This will prevent this problem... at least for us, the true gamers .

Ive requested this feature for years, I even considered playing VCMI so i can do it myself. Sadly nobody cares to play VCMI online.

Play H4 where hero chaining is impossible.

But also, you can send 1 skeleton to wander aound and act as a scout, lol

So, each game has their weakness.

In general, I support this statement, it should be included in the options. However, you can hero chain even with just 2 heroes, so...

In any case, here is alternatives, which I also use in Heroes 4:

- Disable Taverns: Sadly I think some other buildings require them. Also you can't in random maps as it stands.

- Disable most heroes: If you only let like 8 heroes to be recruited, and have 4 ais, each will be the startying for an AI, and you get the rest. The problem for this method is it may cripple the AI since you can defeat their starting hero, then recruit it from tavern. Also in multiplayer whoever starts may win by hero recruitment first, unless resources are set low.

- get Heroes from Prisons: Combinable with either of the above two.

In any csase, the feature should be included. Maybe in WOG or VCMI main it is easier to include it, and more people will play VCMI online then?

Igrik long ago wrote such an option for ERA and it is available in ERA Scripts. You can even set up the number of allowed heroes.
The option is namend "Hero Limit"

20 years after game release, the true gamer finally joins the community and claim to know how the "real" H3 should be played, what about you add "in my opinion", lol.

As for your request, of course it is possible, but you need to use Era/wog, so a script can limit the number of heroes in use.

Well... in competetive game, hero chaining is the main point of interest and a proof of skill.

In custom maps you're often limited to very few heroes anyway - the way it's meant to be played 8)

In vanilla maps there are often not enough resources / treasures to make much use of hero chains, anyway.

I see where you're coming from.

The 800x600 default resolution shows 5 hero slowts:

Of course there are up and down scroll arrows grayed out if you have 5 or less heroes. I think 5 should be the limit based on this 800x600 logic since with bigger resolutions, more slots are displayed and the original should be used as a basis.

It may be, best way to fix mentioned issue is higher price for heroes, let's say, 5000 gold, without heroes limit diminishing.
Also I come to conclusion that random maps should be generated without roads or with roads "NWC vanilla maps style" - from town to ore/wood mines but not from town to town.
