My bet is that they're still the mandrakes, since I think the town still needs tweaks, but I could be wrong as well.

It looks great and the Dodo doesn't feel out of place in H3, just out of place in the town IMO. The gameplay video should have used normal animation speed in combat so we could actually see the animations of the new units, but otherwise great work

Played my first game with Courtyard yesterday and I have to say it really fits well into Heroes3. The unit abilities and Potion wagon all makes sense and work together.  Great job, I hope you will keep improving this town! I just wondered about the Lvl. 6 unit(Mandrakes): Is this meant to be a melee fighter? Feels weird that it mostly can't move on its first turn because all the tentacles around it. What is this regrowth spell it should cast, and how do I do that?

Yeah, it's weird a bit, due to vcmi limitations, this effect in non-configurable. So Mandrakes are late-battle units, they must patiently wait first turns before attack

Regrowth is some kind of Archangel's Ressurection spell. But Mandrakes can ressurect only Vines and nothing else.

Try also to play with Migdigravia. She has Age Camera in her starting army and ability to summon Appartitions from dead stacks!

Hey, congratulations on this mod I particularly like it especially its concept.

I'd suggest though to "remake" some of the unit graphics especially those which do not look exactly "in H3 style", which would be the Mandrake then the Dodo and maybe the Salamander.

The mandrake its what seems to be a bit "off" and look like ripped from some Warcraft-style 3d game.
Most medieval depictions of the Mandrakes are like:

most likely inspired by plants similar by this

So I'd suggest something in the style of the AoW 1 Nature Elemental.

Dodos on the other hand seem very out of place as Tier 5 (are they equal to Rocs/Thunderbirds??) plus their style seems a bit off. Here the renders of Roc and Thunderbird as an example for avians/birds style.

Finally, regarding Salamanders, the graphic style of salamanders is also a bit "off" and they're too turned a bit too much towards us. If you're remaking them, I'd also suggest to consider MM8 Salamanders which are already established in the lore. I wouldn't suggest making them identical as we have already Medusas and Nagas with snake tail, but maybe find some inspiration.

In the end I'd also like to suggest a more likely lineup in terms of creature strengths:
Lv1: Cupids
Lv2: Dodos
Lv3: Homunculi
Lv4: Salamanders
Lv5: Riflemen
Lv6: Mandrakes
Lv7: Jabberwocks

As far as structures and such are concerned I'd say that Town screen is pretty good but map objects have a strange perspective. You should maybe try rendering from a different angle.

Having feedbacks, opinions and suggestions are not "offense" to the creator ! I think its quite "necessary" to see if some things are a bit too strong/weak after you create, you "necessarily" make mistakes because all can't be tested before relase.
I really like many things done but I personnaly don't like dodos too. The Cupids are -to my taste- splendid. They really looks better than "level 1 creature". Many very good stuff here ! Good job and thanks for sharing !

I've talked with Trith (he doesn't have HC account) and he said he doesn't plan any changes in nearest future. He must rest from few years work. And Courtyard was never planned as balanced town (because vcmi unstable stage), the main goal was to make it a little bit diffirent compared to vanilla factions. Trith doesn't plan to rework sprites or change creatures' levels.
Dodo stays as is. That's all there is to say on the subject.
Mandrakes are personal interpretation based on Alraune. Gorgons in H3 are de facto brazen bulls - example that there's no the one right mythology interpretation in HoMM series so he feels excused.
On contrary - Trith is aware about MM8 Salamanders, but newt shaped creature is more proper mythological interpretation than half-snake
