Rouges Are They UseFull

in Heroes II rouges were a sort of level one creature if not a level two creature. and could be quite useful in large amounts. also they were easy to get in thier rouge camps.(and werent very expensive).

Now in Heroes III (armageddons blade)
With thier special ability to "spy" it is most beneficial to have them with you.

they are the second level creature of the nomads (Misc.)
with the enchanters, fairy dragons, and sharpshooters all besting them by alot.

Are They Usefull?

I like Rogues a lot.  It's nice to have permanent Visions.

In the beginning of the game I always get them if I can, because there are not so much creatures in my army (enough slots to fill with Rogues ) and they are very useful to identify monsters. I never let them attack enemies in battles.

The spying is good. Like I've said earlier, however, they don't have "No enemy retaliation" unlike that pf HeroesII.

Rogues are especially great at the beginning of the game. You split up so that all your empty 'adventure map' slots are taken with individual rogues and get them to go and grab all the loot. They can run past the 1st & 2nd level creatures and give you a huge economic boost to get ahead of your human opponents (comp opponents are useless regardless IMO). You can cause havoc if they can somehow make it too your opponents lands early on (looting all their stuff). When their usefulness is nearing an end, you can sacrifice em to grab one last free loot from tough creatures that you can't face for a while yet, or from enemy lands. The monsters auto-attack when you grab their adjacent loot (level 3 & 4's anyway vs rogues). Add to all that, that they're freeing up your Heroes having to waste time grabbing loot. You can even steal artifacts and ferry them back to your Hero. Vs good human opponents, rogues are nearly too good for the edge they can provide (depending greatly upon the map).

----------------------------------------------------------what do you mean by

"You can even steal artifacts and ferry them back to your Hero"

and

"They can run past the 1st & 2nd level creatures and give you a huge economic boost to get ahead of your human opponents (comp opponents are useless regardless IMO). You can cause havoc if they can somehow make it too your opponents lands early on (looting all their stuff)"

i didnt know you could do that (unless you mean something entirely different to what i think it means).

Well, I don't know about how useful they are in battle but I just love to put them around the map because they are invisible and can surprise players. I am one mean map maker, I am.

Ypu guys forgot to mention thy most important thang about these rougues but mentioned part of it LOL.
Yes they have thy Vision which will benefit big time with DIPLOMACY.
you dont need the spell if you have rougues so you can see say a pack of devils & see if they will join or not, if you come around them you should pick them up & have them in good use lol.

I also heard that if you dont have many rougues they can lie to you but not seen any proof of that yet

Hmm... As far as I remember, my Rogues once told me that the monsters would flee. They attacked...
But I don't remember how much Rogues there were in my army...
