I’m pleasantly surprised with rules and Design of the game. The rule book certainly needs more polish but I like the concept. I wasn’t wanting this to just be the pc game on table top, but I also wasn’t sure what to expect. What they’ve come up with seems to capture and condense a good amount of homm3 game’s mechanics into a 1-2 hour board game experience. My friends and I enjoy tabletop campaign games that are split up into shorter sessions, so this is perfect for me.
Overall it seems like each player will traverse the adventure map to collect resources and artifacts and flag mines, all while fighting neutral monsters to level up. Typical stuff for Homm. Movement is a lot less while things like the map space and resources are condensed to fit a board game style. Recruit your faction’s creatures from h3 (you only deploy up to 5, H1 & H2 style) and take your opponents castle.
The combat reminds me a bit of duel of champions, with a smaller battlefield and a deck of cards to use for spells and abilities. Big difference is that your units will be deployed already and you won’t have extra ones in your “might and magic deck”, which consists of stat cards (attack, defense, Sp, knowledge) as well as hero specialty and hero skill cards, and also artifacts you collect. These cards will serve as boosts to your creatures stats to tip the scales in battle.
The “might and magic deck” will also be used on the adventure map for certain hero skills and artifacts that have non combat uses. Hero level determines how many cards can be in the player’s hand when it’s their turn.
Not everything is perfect, like undead heroes can use the game’s morale mechanic which seems like a weird choice. Buildings on the adventure map that are commonly used by each hero once in the pc game will be limited to one time uses. I’m sure this is because of balance, but still, it woulda been cool to see some things more faithfully implemented.
But overall I like what I’m seeing. I see this as a fun resource collector, management game with a mini deck builder game built in. I’m excited for it. Currently Printing out 3D models of the castles to go with it when the game comes out xD

I'm also very excited about this board game. It does capture the feel of the video game really well I think. I'm backing for sure, and also interested in making some campaigns/units when its here. There's plenty of material in the HoMM III universe that - understandably - didn't make the cut in the boardgame adaptation, so it's up to us to add it.
So modders: let's make some cool stuff once this is out!

As a board game enthusiast myself, I'm very excited about this, the rules seem pretty solid actually by the first look.
My only big complain is that it seems you can only have one main hero, i hoped the board game would "fix" that problem of the computer game but instead it embraces it.

We'll do grail too.  But, as I said, shared. But I infected more friends as well, at least one will pledge grail by himself.
EDIT: btw, let's talk about content, yes?
I was a bit wondering about the choice of factions.
Castle, Necropolis in Base Game are obvious, though maybe boring choices. Dungeon in Base Game surprised me, but not negative.
Fortress and Rampart as Expansions are fine for me(would have expected Rampart maybe in base game but no matter if you pledge grail  ). But I am surprised, would have thought if one is left out then probably Fortress...
Also: that means as of now: Tower, Inferno and Stronghold will be missing. Not sure I like that.
What do you think about the factions so far?

The Kickstarter opened just over an hour ago and already crushed the original pledge goal 10x.
Gotta be honest, I'm super excited about this, sadly now the year-long wait for the shipping begins
(I'm also in with the grail pledge, but I'm still sad about the lack of Inferno, which is my favourite faction lore-wise. Here's hoping for an expansion later on!)

I LOVE what I'm seeing, but man, it's so obvious that they are butchering the videogame so they can release the remnants on future expansion packs. For example, there is no underground or water exploring on the boardgame.

I think they aren't releasing any more factions for now. The remaining factions (Inferno, Stronghold, Conflux) probably will see the light on a new crowfunding or directly on retail. They also recently mentioned Cove, but probably it would be based on the cove from Might and Magic: Era of Chaos.

Tbh, I like that they kept it simple with less factions and no underground/water tiles. Table space required is already pretty high; needing an extra area for underground sounds like too much.
Less factions for a more focused core game experience is a good model imho. Factions can be properly added later after proper balance testing. And in the end we’ll have a really solid way to play heroes 3 on table top. Better than then rushing out 8 or 9 factions on launch I think.

Game is going to be available in 6 languages so far - new ones are:

A lot of stretch goals unlocked:
- additional faction - Tower as Kickstarter and Tradeshow Exclusive (not available in regular retail)

That's how I understood it. It seems that the initial pledge is just to push the stretch goals and get invited to the Pledge Manager. After that you can distribute the money however you want and even add more. This is also when you'll have to consider shipping prices.

The tower hero card has Solmyr and Dracon, which are both magic heroes, while the other hero cards have might and magic.
