Yeah, I always thought nyx/nyx warrior ability was a bit too strong, same with haspids/sea serpents.

I don't think balance and gameplay design problems of the town can be reflected in this game...
Also, if anything, cove is OP (and also not real)
My issue with conflux is not balance (alone).
Having the elementals in different tiers always felt strange to me. And they are so ... boringly done. I mean, as summons and neutrals, just having "X elemental" is fine for me. But in a faction I`d like something feeling a bit more...atmospheric.

I saw it. And, as some might tell you, I am a tiny little bit fond of such contests. Sadly, though, I don' think I'll find the time anytime soon.

Archon's video today went over unit balance a bit, but more importantly, revealed the unit's abilities for each faction in a spreadsheet.
Archon AMA #18
Starts around 1:12:00
I think they all look good for the most part. Each unit seems well represented. Looking forward to this.
Also, the rule book got updated:

Literally received the game today, out of nowhere delivery straight to my doorstep. I did get an email from FedEx a week ago, but never paid attention to the shipment tracker .
Got all the expansions, played one 1v1 game (Brave New World) as Castle and Necropolis. Was a tight game, but Necro took it. Feels like a pretty strong faction even in the board game, but not anything crazy. Was our first ever game as well, so we didn't know the rules and had to keep checking the manual. Was really fun though, I give the "tutorial" scenario an 8/10. I think I love the gameplay as well.
The quality of everything in the boxes seems pretty good to me, and the miniatures especially are so fun to look at. Will have to buy a lot of sleeves for all the cards though.

Very cool! I just ordered some clear sleeves myself so I can shuffle everything easier.
8/10 seems like the average score most player’s are giving it. Gameplay looks really fun. I’m trying to print some card holders and what not to make the setup less of a mess. Looks like a lot of table space is needed for everything.

The table space used is quite a lot, for sure. Kinda funny though how the actual game world doesn't take a lot of space, but all the different decks, town cards, hero cards and battlefield take quite a lot.
Played two more games today, and it made me like the gameplay even more. Tested Dungeon and Tower. Tower with Dracon seems pretty strong, getting an Enchanter and a Mage at the same time with Dracon's specialty cards was STRONG. Lord Haart's "double" estates is also crazy. Still a lot of playing to go, haven't even opened 4 of the expansions!

After two months and about 20 games, I can say that the boardgame is just amazing. Easily my favorite boardgame at the moment. The only criticism I have is the poor rulebook. Thankfully there's a fan-made project to rewrite it entirely, which clears up a lot of the unambiguous wordings and unclear rules (based on clarifications by the devs themselves, they don't just come up with rules out of thin air). The Archon Studio Discord server is also great, with the developers frequently answering various questions from the players. There's also a thread for custom scenarios, and there's quite a few great ones.
From my experience and discussions on Discord, I'll say that magic heroes are noticeably stronger than might. The things you can do with just Knowledge are crazy strong. Overall, the strong abilities, spells and units only become apparent after quite a few games, but the game itself is simple enough for new players to quickly pick up. Artifacts are generally really strong, with only a few exceptions. The factions are all pretty well balanced, with no big outliers either way. Castle might be weakest one, with pretty bad bronze units (but making up for it with a strong end-game, for scenarios that apply). Inferno on the other hand has the best start with their Cerberi and the best gold unit (Arch Devils). Hydras are a close second.
The variance in the strength of the heroes is quite big, with absolute trash picks like Wystan, and the extremely overpowered Lord Haart. Like I said before, you're usually better off going with a magic hero, but there are some truly great might heroes like Fiona as well.
I recommend the game wholeheartedly, it's a great time and a faithful adaptation of the PC game, with all the mechanics smartly integrated. Eagerly awaiting for Stronghold, Conflux and Cove!

Did a couple of games with various players and settings (co-op and team games) and even a solo campaign.
I really enjoy the gameplay, variation and factions. mini's look fantastic and a variety of gameplay options too. I wish the maps could be more diverse but i'll probably create a dozen of scenario's myself at one point.
they really did a good job with it

I tried it with various number of players and various types of games and, honestly, I have mixed feelings.
The game really is beautiful and made with love and in a lot of ways feels like the video game... for better and for worse.
The only mode I fully enjoyed was the solo. The rest tend to drag on. A 2 player game is still fine, but with 3 players it gets too long and cumbersome. I'm going to finish all the solo campaigns and enjoy them, but I probably won't find the right players and time to play it more than once or twice a year.
All in all, I don't regret buying it, but I'm also glad I didn't buy all the expansion and I don't see a reason to invest more.

I have mixed feelings around certain aspects of the game, but overall I do enjoy playing. I ended up house ruling a lot though. Turning each spell and skill into a card is a cool idea, but they fumbled a bit in execution. The default spell deck feels really bloated with magic arrows (especially if you own all expansions) along with many niche spells that don’t feel good when adding to your deck of Might and Magic. Some skills are like this as well.
Randomness is a core element of homm and I like that it’s here, but some parts are just too punishing for a BG and it derails the experience.
After several 2 player games, I ended up removing a lot of spell cards, and a few skills, that didn’t have much value. I also removed the negative astrologist cards. Siege battles are too rare for cards like remove obstacle, earthquake, ballistics skill…combat with neutrals costs movement for every combat turn after the first, so the abundance of defensive spells got annoying. Dispel is nearly useless with the lack of on-going effects. After editing the decks a bit, I found my 2 player games to be a tighter game session where the majority of cards drawn were exciting and easier to combo with.
I do really like the faction design and their creatures. The adventure map movement is a lot of fun and the art is all on point. Resources are pretty scarce, and I like that. Makes choices important, although the faction specific buildings vary in usefulness. Town boards look great and I like the hero variety. Will definitely pick up the other expansions and am happy enough with the purchase. Been painting minis slowly but surely
