New ideas for artifacts

I will just be putting the ideas I kinda know can be done, but you can put any.

- Sword of Armageddon:
** Right hand
** Relic
** Value 9500 gold
* +8 melee atk and def
* Casts Armageddon over the battlefield after each melee attack. Power is set at (50+5 per level) damage.

- Sword of Frost:
** Right hand
** Relic
** Value 9000 gold
* +9 melee atk and def
* Casts Freezing on melee target
(100% chance, but if not possible just leave default value of 30-40% and make it give better stats, like 14 atk and def)

- Sinister Club of the Troll:
** Left hand
** Major
** Value 5500 gold
* +5 melee atk
* Melee attacks of the hero have a chance of stunning the target.
* Grants Regeneration at the start of combat. Value is (10+1 per level) HP cured each turn.

- Everflowing Vial of Smoke:
** Misc slot
** Major
** Value 5000 gold
* Start combat with a cloud of smoke over each ally target
[I kinda know this can be done because before debugging the game, shields used to just generate the Ward over a square and not over a creature. So there was code to auto cast to location on combat start.]

- Amulet of Frenzy:
** Neck
** Major
** Value 5750 gold
* +10 melee and ranged attack
* -10 melee and ranged defense
* All heroes and creatures in army are immune to fear effects (Terror, panic, etc.)

Peasant set:

- Peasant's Sack:
** Misc slot
** Minor
** Value 3750 gold
* Each day, you gain +1 gold for each creature in this hero's army.

- Peasant's Pitchfork:
** Right hand
** Minor
** Value 3500 gold
* +6 melee attack
* All heroes and creatures in army deal +50% melee damage against level 4 creatures

- Peasant's Torch:
** Left hand
** Minor
** Value 3250 gold
* +6 melee defense
* All heroes and creatures in army deal +50% melee damage against Death targets

If you have the whole peasant equipped set you gain: At the start of each day, add 1 Peasant to army per equipping hero's level.

Im sure there is a lot of unexplored design space...

Equilibris has already added six obkjects so these ideas may be used by them too if they find them interesting.

Sword of Armageddon and of Frost are based on Heroes 3 obviously.

I will surely try out these new artifacts, but how can you implement into the Ultimate mod?

Currently is impossible, right?

Helmet of melting sun
*worth 5000 gold
*affects each enemy target with disrupting ray

boots of the broken bone
*worth 2500 gold
*applies fatigue on every single target on the battlefield, under the condition of not being undead, mechanical or elemental.

Having the Fizbin of Misfortune, the Helmet of melting sun and the boots of the broken bone will enable the hero to cast random hostile spells when attacking like a beholder.





Mermaid scale armor
*worth 4000 gold
*+20Def to range and melee
*grants the hero the pirate ability

Whirlpool shield
*worth 7800 gold
*grants the army but not the hero the pirate ability
*grants the army +10% defense
*grants the hero +3 defense
*grants the hero the summon waterelemental spell regardless of his skill.
*Having the sextant of the sea elves, the captain's hat and the mermaid scale armor enables the whirlpool shield to devour the enemy ship's crew granting him the sea monster's ability.

Skull of the unwitnessed monstrosity
*worth 9200 gold
*makes its bearer undead (immunity to the manipulation of mind and flesh via poisons or spells)
*grants the bearer life-shield
*grants everyone on the field maximum negative morale (sorrow)
*with each hit the bearer casts plague

If the hero wields the Deadwood staff and has the Skull of the unwitnessed monstrosity he will additionally cast the hand of death spell at the start of each battle on every unit (including his own)

Book of the mad prophet
*worth 3500 gold
*grants the hero's army +6 Luck but-2 morale

Bow the panicking priest
*worth 4800 gold
*grants the hero 3 points of speed but in exchange for 10 defense.
*grants the hero +12 ranged attack

Glas of the genius' brain
*worth 2000 gold
*gives 50 mana to the hero
*-8 mana regen per day

If the hero wields the book of the mad prophet, the bow of the panicking priest and the genius' brain the hero steals mana from each target be it friend or foe with each hit.

Not exactly impossible per se.

We would need an Equilibris hacker developer to code them in assembly. They have already "added" 6 artifacts this way. Of course some are easier than others. From what I reckon, artifacts which just grant the hero a spell/ability effect are easy, others not so much. But in theory as long as there is a way to code it, it should be possible.

Equi artifacts use unused slots leftover from when the original game wanted to implement mega-combinations but these were never coded in. I reckon even after the six added ones, there are still about 20 unused artifact slots leftover in the code, including the Blowgun.

I like Unknown_darg_g combot, except the Deadwood thing seems too strong and unpredictable (With Death Hand cast on everyone, many battles would end just after beggining, and it seems abusable with just start and run. I wuld not implement this due to balance and abuse concerns.)

Wait ... that actually exists?

Did I just guess out an artifact that was supposed to be implemented?

I did not expect that!

We can make the Deadwood staff combo prohibit retreats similar to the shackles of war.

Artifacts should be closely related to the skill system. The basis is therefore the construction of this system. 9 packs of 4 give you 36
types of artifacts.

I don't think such is a good idea. I think artifacts are to give the game flavor that the skills do not.

Plus everything indicates that adding skills seems to be "#Impossibl", much more difficult than adding artifacts, since there is no "vacant space" of "unused skills".

Artifacts can be closely related to a skill but they cn also be related to an ability, a creature, a faction...

I think H4 put too much power in individual artifacts at first, like Sword of the Gods. It's better to put ultimate power in completed sets, more like in H3. H4 only added sets in expansions and didn't enable them by default for all maps (I did in Ultimate, tho).
