This is quite old news now. He’s probably blocking their membership as part of a gambit. If I know Erdogan, there is something he wants behind closed doors and he’s using this as leverage.

Seriously, the economy of Turkey is in tatters, and although we all know the long standing geopolitcal uncertainity inherent in the country, no one appreciates when he tries to open another front somewhere else so he doesn't have to deal with Russia in the black sea.
