[MOD] Spell School Revamp v1.0

Tired of seeing Might heroes flinging random Eldritch Arrows and Magic Fists and cursing your units on the battlefield? Want a bit more uniqueness and exclusivity to investing in a Spell School or Perk such as Mass Haste from Attack Skill line? INSTALLATION: drop the data.pak within the data.zip into your HOMM5 Tribes of the East v3.1 data folder. Remember to make a backup of your original data.pak to “uninstall”.


A/ Level 1 and 2 spells can still be learned but will now do nothing unless the hero has at least the appropriate Basic [Spell School] Magic skill. AIs do know not to cast these level 1 and 2 spells from play-testing.


B/ Spellbook list has been rebalanced as follow:

Dark
Level 1: Sorrow
2: Decay
3: Weakness, Slow, Vulnerability, Suffering
4: Confusion, Frenzy, Blindness
5: Puppet Master, CotN, Vampirism

Destructive
1: Eldritch Arrow
2: Stone Spikes
3: Lightning Bolt, Ice Bolt, Fireball, Circle of Winter
4: Firewall, Chain Lightning, Meteor Shower
5: Implosion, Armageddon, Deep Freeze

Light
1: Regen
2: Cleansing
3: Divine Strength, Haste, Endurance, Righteous Might
4: Deflect Missile, Magical Immunity, Teleportation
5: Divine Vengeance, WoL, Resurrection

Summoning
1: Fist of Wrath
2: Wasp Swarm
3: Fire Trap, Raise Dead, Arcane Crystal, Earthquake
4: Phantom Force, Blade Barrier, Summon Elementals
5: Summon Hive, Arcane Armor, Conjure Phoenix



C/ Elemental Spells revamp (spells that are tagged as one of the 4 elements for Dungeon Elemental Chain):
Air: Vulnerability (damage only for Academy hero Faiz), Eldritch Arrow, Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning
Earth: Decay, Stone Spikes, Meteor Shower, Implosion
Fire: Fireball, Firewall, Armageddon, WoL
Water: Ice Bolt, Circle of Winter, Deep Freeze, CotN

*Note that Vulnerability, Eldritch Arrow, Decay, WoL, and CotN are tagged as a particular element but do no elemental damage. For example, Eldritch Arrow can still hit and damage Fortress Thunder Thane who is immune to lightning.


D/ Since Stone Spikes and Wasp Swarm now do nothing at 'None' Mastery level, Sylvan Druid Elder and Sprite cast these spells at 'Basic' Mastery.

Decay is only good for high sp classes like necro but almost useless for haven/inferno.
By placing all those at lvl 3 you make it hard for haven/inferno to learn mass spells.
Confusion is definitely not at the level of blindness and frenzy.

Lightning and icebolt in the same tier as fireball and frost ring that have the same damage but 3x3 aoe. This is pretty bad.
Firewall not as good as the other two, at least if it stays x15sp.

Regen at lvl 1 is terribly misplaced, would make better sense at t2 that would be closer to you building elite units.
Cleansing as the sole t2 spell is 100% useless unless opponent wields light or dark.
Deflect missile isn't as good as RM or endurance and yet it's higher tier.

Fire trap at t3 guts down horribly summoning factions' creeping. Probably the worst change so far.
Phantom and barrier not good enough to warrant t4. Too random and/or situational.
Hive nowhere close as good as phoenix or armour.

If you prefer this for thematic reasons more power to you but many changes range from impractical to terribly balanced.
