Remember what? The tactic of politics is turning.. What? Ukraine! You get less information, e.g. news.. If the topic is nothing else.. You will get a lot of information about Ukraine.. For example, a small article is already a lot of information, important or not.. Unfortunately, news has to on the market.. When good news doesn't sell.. So Trump used the power of the media.. How can we beat the Greenlandic media? Taiwan, etc are larger than Greenland.. It depends on politics.. Because of money, time and dialog.. Ok Trump made himself known.. Children read history in school.. Admiral Trump hmm.. Putin gets the Great Putin, when only word the great called 3 times in Russia.. Ok if they succeed in Greenland and Ukraine.. Big topic!

Adjusted for inflation, he already started off with hundreds of millions of dollars. Multiplying your starting money over the next few decades is not a difficult thing to do. I did it, and I am an asshat.
I am not saying that he is DUMB or that he isn't good in front of a camera. But even in front of a camera most of his power comes because he is in tune with the grievances of the masses and echoing a lot of their frustrations... which isn't really a hard thing to do. You just need to stand up there and vent in a way that feels relatable to a lot of people. There isn't really anything special about his work in business.

Yeah, I watched that whole speech on World Economic Forum.
The thing about Trump is, he is full throttle post-truth and a lot of the times, he simply blatantly lies. China isnt using wind energy themselves (Europe and Chine cover around 10 percent of their energy from wind), the election I lost was rigged and that’s out there now, etc. etc. So you have to fact-check everything he says. That is really annoying. Politicans always used to twist the truth and manipulate, sure. But they didnt use to outright lie about statistical data and stuff like this. I should be able to take the President of the United States for his word. It’s absurd. This is not the Apprentice, you know.
He is a show man though. I think he may have learned the trick of always blaming the opposition for “not being grateful” from Erdogan. Some of his rhetorical tactics remind me so much of him. If I didnt know any better, at some point, I’d be like “damn you Denmark, damn you for mistreating the USA like this.How greedy of you to want to keep your borders, you ungrateful cold-hearted, icy sons of snowes, you.”

I’m not sure what you’re suggesting JJ, so when Trump directly lies while talking to the world leaders on an international forum (not to some MAGA voter base during a campaign speech, not some click-bait tweet etc), should we not even mention it because he is just being himself?

About rigged election, I also believe it was rigged to death. Not in the sense that votes were manipulated, but in all the other ways that could affect the result, hiding important information which could damage Biden, constant negative press including lies about his collusion with Russia, the false claims that he supported white supremacists and so on. That's not to say he did deserve to win, I already told here that he lost because of his big mouth and tweeting nonsense right and left. He deserved the loss. Then he earned the win, his campaign was on spot.

We have to guess what he means instead of taking words at face value... why?
I think he meant what he said. He doesn't want to invest in cleaner energy because fossil fuels are faster and cheaper, which is self-destructive insanity. He doesn't think about stuff more than like 10 or 20 years in the future.

What is this, a tourist driving by Chinese fields and then blogging his impressions? Dont you think he has a room full of energy tech experts that he can consult with any minute before speaking at Davos? Is climate change “woke” now? What’s next, evolution. No, he’s once again going for the short-sighted win, instead of long-term goals. Long-term goals are the soft spot of democracies, the masses are overwhelmingly short-sighted in their concerns and politicians need to pamper them. But the stakes are “the world as we know it” and mass extinction of thousands of species. So politicians have an obligation and responsibility on a different level here, including their responsibility as a human to future generations.
That’s not what he meant by rigged. Yes, Trump did get attacked by the press a lot during his first (and second) run but as you seem to be aware, he gave the press a lot of material himself and he wasnt exactly conventional president material. It was 2016, political correctness wasnt this worn out but people were still getting fed up with it. Trump smelled the air, deliberately gave the press bait to trample on and they took that bait like sharks going for blood. He then used this for emotional connection with his voter base who themselves felt targeted by political correctness unfairly, suddenly transforming into a candidate with winning potential. He had read and exploited the anti-woke reaction quite masterfully, I must admit I underestimated his political intelligence in the beginning. I thought he had no chance of winning.

Your president consciously decided to wear aviators for a speech, so yeah, I do believe a formal declaration of war on France is warranted for terrorizing millions of people's eyeballs. What I mean is that Trump has been lying his whole life, so it doesn't come as a surprise that you cannot trust a word that comes out of his mouth or keyboard.
There has been no reason whatsoever to assume he wouldn't lie, depending on the people or institution before him.

Nothing to do with Putin and even less Trump. It is the result of a long list of ideological mistakes, dues mostly to the ecologist lobby pressure. In 1997 there was an alliance between the Socialist Party and the Green party, for electoral purposes only, where it has been decided to reduce the nuclear energy by 1/3 and close 20 nuclear reactors then invest in renewable energy. France had a leadership in nuclear energy production, which is one of the cleanest energy, and then successive presidents, Holland then Macron, did everything to scuttle it.
So, when they took the irresponsible decision to stop Russian energy import, we realized we have no energy production on our own. Putin is a pretext, the causes are ideological.
