I mean, if you are married, you are free to get a divorce, right? Do you get divorced the evening on the day you decided you need a divorce? No, because the lawyers have to set straight, not necessarily who gets what, but instead what is actually there. What was brought into the marriage and what has been gained as a consequence of being married in the first place. I mean, you probably KNOW ALL THAT!
So why are you coming up with this nonsense, like these things were sandbox-easy?

And you likely know that nobody asked the Romanian citizens if they want their country be part of this union. But if they ask us if we want to leave, I'll certainly vote to leave. 
Oh, and if the EU is such a paradise, why did the British vote to exit anyway? That's a real mystery...
And I'm sorry that my posts on the EU bother you so much. But I'll still speak my mind, at least I am free to do so here, even if you think it's "nonsense".

Your posts bother me because they speak of fear. You look back - as do lots of people - and listen to people who tell others that "once" things were better and things just need to be rolled back then everything will be in order again.
But it won't. Things aren't in order in Britain - they switch governments like Italy pre-Meloni. They quite obviously aren't in order in the USA either, on the contrary.
Things are happening fast and every faster nowadays, a lot is happening in the world, wars (at your doorstep), climate deteriorates (and if you don't believe it, look at the number of forest fires and the strange new species of all kinds of animals that wouldn't have been able to survive in Europe once, but can and do now), there is a demographic crisis (societies are getting ever older - who is going to pay for all the old farts needing to be pampered? -, people of poorer countries flood richer ones, the next pandemic is already lurking somewhere and just waiting for the right host and whatnot and on top of that now everyone can trumpet their own know-it-all and know-it-better into the world and some are even paid for spreading lies.
The world and the present has become uncontrollable - or so it seems, since it never was controlled and we never in control, but the past LOOKS controlloble since it has already happened and can't change. So "back to what we know" sounds good, even though the past, when it was the present, was just as uncontrollable and hard to master, otherwise we wouldn't be we are.
Looking back won't ever gain anything because there is no way to go back, only forward, always just forward. So dissolving the EU or getting out won't gain anything. Instead, we have to work to make the EU better as a union.

You know what? I actually agree that it's no use to look back and working together to make the union better sounds good. I would prefer that. Trouble is that I don't see this happening, sadly. And there's not much I can do except vote and hope that whoever gets the power won't screw things up even worse than before.
But thanks for your last reply, really. It's nice to have a conversation beyond the "Leave if you don't like it here" routine.

Just FYI, besides gas being a little higher for the past several months due to a terrorist regime molesting the Strait of Hormuz, the USA is doing quite well. Also, I have air conditioning. Just saying. No sweaty baboon scent in the air. European cities smell like a locker room in the summer. Its so nasty.
The EU should (and must) take a few pointers from its less scrupulous cousin if it wants to continue to court its population rather than fall deeper into alienation than what it already has. Energy independence. Reliable energy. Cheap petrol. Cadbury eggs that dont cost 87 euro. Free water at restaurants. Free bread with butter. Unlimited refills. No 4-6 month wait time to see a doctor for stuff. In theory much of Europe has universal healthcare. In practice? Nope. Also, putting a coin in to unlock a shopping cart is stupid. I dont use shopping carts, but if I did, it would be annoying and unnecessary. You should just be able to take a shopping cart. Also, Chinese food with fries is not Chinese food and it makes no sense to call it Chinese food.

Are you sure that the EU has no say in where its funds go? Rich countries giving money to poor ones to spend as they please seems extremely unlikely even if there isnt an official chain of command regarding the budget.

The coin thing with the shopping carts is a safety measure rather than a trick for a little profit. You can take the coin back when you insert the cart back in its dock. It’s to prevent the homeless etc to just take the cart from the parking space and never bring it back. And to prevent customers to just leave the carts all over the place when they are done.

It's a mixed affair.
Roundabout one fifth is allocated directly by the EU commission. The rest is supposed to be allocated by the government of the member in collaboration with the EU commission IN GENRAL (that is, they allocate for areas, say, environmental protection or education, but the details are in the hands of the receiving country.
So even if the commission would be against a purpose, you could still free the money you wanted to put into something the commission agrees with and do it with the freed money - if the EU commission doesn't want you to put their funds into, say, arms, you can put it into educatio instead, then take the funds initially allocated for education and buy arms.

Montreal is colder than Anchorage, Alaska in the winter due to the early freeze of the Hudson Bay and the lack of temperature regulation from the ocean. They just build a bunch of crap underground so you can do a lot of your stuff in January, which is a half-baked solution because people are not groundhogs.
Now, what they should do is drill several holes into the continental shelf around the Hudson Bay and detonate high yield thermonuclear warheads in order to let in more of the saltiness of the Atlantic Ocean, which means later freeze times for the water and less severe winters. Can we do it? Yep. But we won't.
Also, to slow / stop / reverse global warming, we could spray paint the planet white. Not all of it, because that would make the Earth uninhabitable.

Best countries in Europe are:
1) Ukraine, for neutralizing Russia and doing the entire world a massive favor.
2) Norway, for North Sea oil extraction and management. An example of how not to be corrupt with black gold and successful with both resources and social programs / the service sector.
3) Poland, because it actually focuses on improving the standard of living for its population and demonstrates what the word "progress" means.

Communist mind leaves the EU.. Result is poor, failure, segregation, etc and it becomes corrupt, authority, Putinist, etc But EU never becomes superpower, etc Yes China.. If fantasy that the US and EU are together.. Yes new flag or the US goes to bankrupt and EU goes down too, thus no weapon and technology.. But both debt.. People try and search for paradise.. So an idea is the US and EU.. But all fear started from Russia.. Today China.. Remember what? The Bible said no politics, trust in the God.. China tries to break the Bible, if economics run well forward 300 years.. When the US started 1776.. Maybe fact and tip to you..
