Gods

Again you could worship gods so that they would be in your favor, send them gifts and other. God protector of a town could be useful too. They could help you when under seige and other favors.

I suggest that the new members should look to the thread called "Should Gods Exist In Heroes4", many good ideas there.
Well...back to the topic then...I really like promotions, and I cant wait to see the heroes advance. Like Pluvious said, there will be promotions in Heroes4, we can only wait and see, when time comes, how is this solved from the 3do guys...

Promotions

I wonder what the promotions are going to be like. I realy hope that they won't screw up on them. Like the tittle would be weird or that they couldn't interpret it right... U are right "It all depends on the 3do guys".

Gods. Again.

Gods could send you resources or reveal locations of mines and artifacts. They could send those dissasters or Help u with something. They would have unlimited power. Also you could send your wish to them and they could grant it to you if you would do somekind of a task for them.

Launcelot, where are you coming up with these ideas? I like them, again. Yes well like the new chaos town would worship either gods of chaos who after each victory would give them gifts or the well devil. They are evil right?!! Now Necros well gods of the underworld. Preserve(New Rampart) they could be something like druids who worship the trees and spirits. Heaven... well guess. Academy, this is a tough one. On this one I'm not sure.

Well

Now let's get back to the subject which was promotions.

With the skill deleting I meant something that u had with a scout won't be needed with a feild general. U could substitute the scouting for let's say armorer or offense.

Most of your ideas are good Sir_dunco but the one involving the ghosts from HOMM2 will be almost impossible to realize has ghosts are too powerful

Ghosts

Thanks. Now ghosts were powerful, but with no lv1 units u could easily beat them. If u had like 100 pesants it would be ghost heaven. They were powerful, but wraiths which are transformed ghosts are NOTHING near it. They should at least be made into something more ghost like. Does anybody have Kings Bounty? If u do u know the ghosts there. Leadership is low then the ghosts get out of had. There they were uncotrlable.

Well It could be used, but don't u think that it would be a little logic less? Delete an secondary skill? But I do see the point of it...

promotions etc

aren't the heroes already being promoted, in terms of experience level?

i like the gods idea greatly...but the tower/wizards should not have any.  their faith is strictly in their craft.  it would be a limitation just like the stronghold now has in that it has no mage guild.

"the lava gods of this island demand a sacrifice!"  and 50% of your weakest level creature is destroyed.

your movement at sea could be impaired until such a sacrifice is made or a task is completed.

I meant like a status. With a certain number of levels u would earn a different status every time. That is what I meant.

Promotions...

Promotions sound like a good idea to me.

However, I wouldn't want it to affect skills and game-play directly that's why we have the skills. It would however be nice if certain deeds were reflected in the game score.

The player would then get a higher or lower score depending on what their heroes do. A player dedicated to Haven and Life Magic should get a penalty if any of their heroes start raising undead. And get a bonus if you destroy a Necropolis. You could get a bonus if you turn an outpost into a Haven.

The 'promotion' could also be related to building certain structures in a Town. (For instance a Holy Temple in a Haven.)

Furthermore additional promotion points can be awarded for completing Seer's Quests.

The interaction of Gods I see more as a scripting issue. It's the maker of the map who should decide the actions of the Gods. So a Town event that gives a bonus/penalty wether you've built a certain structure in it (say a Holy Temple) at a certain day could be a good idea.

I don't like the idea of building it (=the actions of Gods) into the game so you couldn't remove it. That may unnecessarily restrict mapmakers.
