Mostly I like ta have a rule that my opponent cant build 7th lv dwelling but I can so I can have a great advantage of winning.
Plus If my opponent builds a capital week 1 I usually quit & one more rule if they do build a 7th lv dwelling I usually che NO I AM JUST JOKING

You want to hear a really funny story about rules misunderstanding lol...

When I was fledging toh'er way back at the beginning of season 3.. I played a number of games with a guy Named Dracon30.

He told me in my first game that in toh games YOU DO NOT BUILD CITY HALL WEEK 1 !!!

And so I interperted this as being a "TOH RULE"

I was completely appaled when an opponent some weeks later had built a city hall in week 1 and accused him of breaking the TOH code of Honor

This is not a word of a toss lol

what I find funny

is the seemingly endless number of people who register for ToH and never read the info at the site.  Then they come into the Zone and ask questions they should already know the answer to or, in less savory circumstances, fall prey to having to play to rules that don't exist simply because they don't know any better.

One rule I always found to be pretty silly is no Log to start.  At higher levels, Gunnar, Kyrre, and Dessa are pretty righteous.....but for a starting hero, I'd take Taz, Meph, Crag, or Gundy over them any day.

To me thy funny rules are, r=no red attack,no logistics,no 4-5th lv heroes.

just lame rules are no diplomacy & a new one I heard a few weeks ago is hilarious.
A newbie was playing a game & she says one of thy rules were no newbie killing which means no killing her in game lol.
I guess they agreed but thy other play said thy heck with it & killed her anyways.
She flamed thy zone saying he cheated.
I asked why & she said she died with a rule no newbie killing LOOL.
We all just laughed & that was that.
I hope she dont come in here or I will never rest lol.
That was a classic lol for me

Must have rules for randoms:
1. No named templates.
2. No Carto/Grail (Although Grail may be acceptable).
3. Normal restart rules (meet first week/heavily blocked).
4. Monolithhs within 1 day of main castle = restart.
5. Let Hexa win.
6. When u can't lose no matter how stupid ya do .. see rule 5 and find a way to do it ....

Stupid rule for ALL maps:
1. First day rush (If u need to make this rule ... then u are playing with the wrong person. )

Well i think first day rush not a stupid rule, because red has first move and if you not make this rule, red will have advantage on first day but after day 1 i think it is fair to attack because your opponent will be able to buy new troops too. And in Heroes 4 you will be not able to make first day rush because no chaining system and creatures growing during the whole week

Will probably think of more later!@

To me first day rush rule is something that i use on TOH maps but not randoms. TOH maps are usually extremely wealthy which means you can afford most of units day1 each week. So you can set up a chain day7, wait for new units to arrive then buy em all and chain them to main who attacks. This can be a very big advantage when stats are somewhat equal and the fight takes place week3-4. In randoms however this is rarely the case atleast for me, i dont think ive been able to buy out all units to fight day1 except for a few games on ring maybe. So on a random the difference isnt as big as it is on a TOH map.

As for random rules i have lots of em to make the game more enjoyable: no joiners/necro/flux/carto/grail/hillfort/DD/fly and lvl 4+ scrolls. And the "basic" restart rules. As for in game rules like h&r or first day rush i rarely ask for them, but if my opponent wants em and they dont seem to strange ill agree on them. But just because i havent said anything about h/r doesnt mean i will use it because i wont. I dont like it at all.

There is option in map editor to not allow log heroes or any heroes you want.So if map editor allow that why it is silly? Here is no good maps  without log and 3-4 lvl heroes but on nearly all maps armageddon and dd and flying deleted so if play like game is lets not delete armageddon and dd and flying I think it is silly to play without rules

I think we all know this already..

Anyone who plays without rules, is higly superior to those who play with rules. The more rules you want, the worse player you are =P

I only play random maps, and fixed maps with all spells allowed and all monster set lower than savage.

There are lots of options in the map editor.  If I wanted to I could 'opt' to set all the critters on my side of the map to friendly and have them join the level 40 Offense Specialist that I 'opt' to start with.

I think that the maps that are posted on the ToH maps page for tournament play were reviewed and found to be acceptable as they were.  Any further editing of the map (except changing the version to a SoD save to eliminate premade combos) changes the map and therefore it's no longer the 'same' map that was approved for play in ToH.

I'm not saying that ALL rules are silly, I'm just stating an opinion I have regarding a rule that seems to be rather popular, and that I find to be insignificant considering the damage potential of an offense or armorer specialist versus a logistics specialist.

It's only an opinion, and everyone knows what opinions are like

That's exactly why i said if you change map it will be no longer map that was approved for play in ToH that's why you need to add rules instead of editing And if maps would be balanced players would never play with rules but that's only in dream possible since heroes 3 has many unbalanced things wich you can fix only with adding rules And look on russian tournaments they are playing random maps always with strong rules will you say they are newbies?
