Transformers
In the spirit of the G.I. Joe thread, I've now dedicated one to another chapter of my childhood.
Autobots vs. Decepticons. The eternal clash of good and evil.
Who did you side with? Who was your fav?
Sticking with the bad-guy motif I'm a Decepticon kind of guy.
Decepticons could fly and Autobots couldn't. Air superiority alone should have changed the outcome of their battles.
Predaking was the baddest M'fer this side of the Mississippi. I don't know why he wasn't allowed to cut off the head of that stupid-a** Sky Linx.
Dinobots were gay and Cyclonus had the coolest realtionship with Galvatron.
Transformers: The Movie would have been a hundred times better if Orson Welles had more air time as Unicron.
So, c'mon and share your Transformers stories.

Hell Yeah!
I used to collect them like mad for years, had about oooooo 20 or so when I was younger before a house fire burnt them all. Got to say though that I liked megatron, but that's just because I thought the german gun he transformed into was really cool.
The movie could have been a damn sight better though. Someone told me recently that all the comics have been transferred onto a website and that there are forums for discussing them. Only problem is that they tend to spend lots of time arguing about irregularities between the film and the comics, so it can be a bit sad apparently

I tried to follow the comics but my allowance didn't allow for me to collect them. And the convenience store clerk always shooed me out of the store when he saw me starting to camp by the rack.
The fight for leadership for the Decepticons in the comics was between Megatron and Shockwave. The cartoon--as we all know--Starscream was Megatron's main antagonist. Bleah! He sucked! I couldn't stand his voice either and Starscream or as Cobra Commander!
The first half of the Transformers movie was awesome. Megatron's resounding, "Die Autobots!!" became my warcry when I was in scouts.
I whooped it up when Optimus died and then had a field day with my best friend because he got misty-eyed.
Bastard got the last laugh though....

yeah there was lots missed from the film like the use of some of the major badguys who fought for the leadership of the decepticons

I don't think I sided with neither party. I liked some more than others though. Soundwave and Optimus Prime were looking better than Megatron, because they didn't have that accursed human face. I liked the more robotic looking Transformers. As for toys, the bigger and the more complex was better, although Micromasters were rather cool. By the way, I still have that Transformers the Movie! The end wasn't that bad, I especially liked when Unicron's head begun to be the new moon of Cybertron.

Autobots were my side...
Optimus, Aerialbots, Prowl, Bumblebee, Hot Rod, Grimlock... heck... I even liked the Beastwars version...

i like Autobots
... but there was one decepticon i dont remember his name but after some time he started chenging to a good one. He had 6 transformation shapes. A car, a jet, woolf space somithing, and i dont remember the other 2. He was a powerful one. He is my fev!

My ex-fiance, people, used to watch transformers: the movie daily and also found Optimous Prime scarily attractive. It was never gonna work out... he had a fetish for optimus prime and ultra magnus. And I mean fetish. Ick.

Yay! I just found out last week...or something close to it that Cartoon Network has Transformers again...supposed to be on Saturdays I believe though 
...though since it's been a while since I've watched em and I can't really even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning, er I can't contribute anything else to the conversation

My favorites were the short lived dinosaur transformers (I believe both sides had them) and the cassete player/cassete transformers (once again, both sides had them).
I always liked the decepticons better. I mean, come on, the autobots were trying to fight supersonic fighter jets with a freakin' Volkswagon. That had to be the most pathetic action figure ever created.
Out of curiosity, did anybody else's parents get them go-bots instead since they were cheaper?

dunno about go bots but you are right most of the autobots sucked. I think two of them had rocket packs and that was it. Pretty naff unless you've got aa guns really.
As for dinobots, to my recollection only the autobots had them. The decepticons did have insecticons though
