Is this insensitive..or what?...
My dad just had open heart surgery. He's doing fine, recovering nicely. I just spent all day at the hospital and I come home late and my wife has steak waiting for my dinner.
I know she was thinking I should have a special meal, she knew I was tired and thought a steak would be much appreciated. But...
Steak just is not what you desire to eat after spending the day in the cardiac ward. I'm thinking about what kind of exercise program I should start, and thinking that a fruit salad would be a good dinner.
But now I have a Steak staring at me in the refrigerator. I contemplate putting it on the grill but just couldn't stomach the thought. Maybe later in the week...but for now that steak is just going to have to sit there.

Hope you dad continues to recover....losing a father would be a horrible event.
Not to be insensitive...but send the steak to me yummmmm cow flesh.

Well..everything is bad once you do it too much..
So a steak once in a while won't hurt you

The fruit idea was good, but eating veggies&fruits only for let's say a week is not suggested. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but nothing more than an apple a day will keep the doctor quite close.

Well to be totally honest I don't see why u are making a point out of it. Be happy she made u a nice dinner ... it is not like she prepared chicken harts or something...
that would have been ehhh "unsetteling"!@

I hope your Dad recovers, and be good and ready to go exercising with you soon. At the mean time, be a good boy, finish your steak and stick to your exercising programs.

I would go for the steak...
in fact I did ...after my own operation... waking up and realizing some guys look inside my body and stuff...

You're being uber-sensitive OT. Your wife wanted to cook you one of your favorite meals. That's one of her ways to let you know she's empathizing with you and wants to help you through these trying times.
I don't know much about your father's medical history. I'm wagering that he's in the hospital because of a LIFETIME of traditional American diet and little if any exercise.
You just came to grips with your own mortality. That's your problem and not hers.
