It's clear than the best version is the fourth,but think about it,if it wasn't because of the very first version,we weren't able to play the fourth one!!!

King's Bounty (HOMM 0?)
Yeah, the newer ones have pretty graphics, more options, and are all-around excellent (especially 4) but none has more of a place in my heart (or has cost me more of my time), than the true original. Hell, I still play it.
Plus it's got those awesome villian animations.

Too bad it runs very quickly on newer PCs. The animation of that general villain (what was his name? Someone Dragonbreathe, right?) is really cool.
I think the idea of hero's reputation that was included into KB (if I'm not mistaken) could be realised in HMM5 to make the game more interesting - the maximum size of the army cannot be more than some value, which is calculated from the hero's exp. or some other stat.

it is a classic and the first version of heroes i played
