OH!

Sounds very complicated to go with that method.  Very interesting if someone does come up with that method of a game.

And the possiblity for creating armies is too stagerring to contemplate.

I get that from the fact that one has suggested to put creatures in a town according to the terrain type. With let's say 8 different terrains and your number you'd have 500 creatures.

From what I've seen these suggestions say that certain creatures belonging to a town types either:
1. Are absent on certain terrains. (Can't build the creature generator.)
2. Have a reduced growth in certain terrains. (That is give less amount of creatures.)

You would still have roughly the same amount of creature dwellings/generators associated to each town type and thus roughly the same amount of different creatures.

An example:
In h4, you can have Blackies and Hydra in level 4, but the game could disable hydra in certain terrain and forcing you to take blackies. Some terrains could allow both, and on some only Hydra could be built. Therefore, you will end up with some more creatures but not necessarily with huge amounts of creatures.

Terrain

I would wish for Terrain that is on the adventure map to be on the Combat map as well.

In the past we have have cursed ground, clover or luck ground, fire, water, earth and air ground as well ans these were reflected on the battlefield as well.  they all have bounses as well

eg Cursed Ground
restricted the use of spell to firat or second

Now in Heroes IV we have a multitude of ground terrain but it never appears on the combat screen nor if there are any specialities with it.

If there is going to be more ground terrain in Heroes IV I would like to see it on the Combat screen as well and hopefully have specialities as well

youve got a good bass but what the hell is the pheneox doing with the devel!

the cleric in the haven should be a hero.Swich one of those angels and put in oh maybe the paliden.

One necropolis great job but you have got two in the same the ghost and bone dragons. Take one out and add something.
I like the idea of an un-dead angel or something else.

I'll put more on this later I got to go to school now.

'Bout that game

A full 3D-world with zooming and stuff. Full 3D-battles with 50-meter titans. Imagine, you, the wizard, stands on top of a hill overlooking your army as it storms the enemy's castle.

Since I'm a noob who have only played Heroes for about 5 years (It's true I missed Heroes 1 when it came) and lacks the willpower to look through the threads after already debated issues, I'll bring up the rest as well.

Good act during the day. Evil act during the night. Keeping the "sunshine/moonlight level" as a direct function of the number of movementpoints left/used. Beef the graphics in details amap. Fock the requirements. By the time Heroes V is out, we will be swimming in terabytes and Geforce9. Good thing by blizzard to remove some of the damage afflicted to bonefolk by missiles. Also, the battles, they look A W F U L. The dwarfs suicide attack... (I'm convinced he's trying to cut his own head off) It doesn't feel like battle a bit.

In the music, bring back the melody. I stand emoteless to those uncertain waverings in H4. This backgroundmusicmania in gaming is apparently something the programmers consider a winning concept (Cough... Wc3 Cough..! ). Bring some feeling and a decisive melody.

The towns deserve an entire essay, but due to lack of time I'll rest my case there.

Time to go. I'll be back.

greetings
There Is a lot off good suggestions and interesting ideas. Here is something I have been thinking alot about I don't see discussed here yet!

NEW MULTIPLAYER OPTIONS
What about making some new multiplayer options! And make them online friendly! Not every one have the time availble to play long multiplayer games , and neither does everyone have the patience to wait for opponnents long turns. And as much as I love to play the multiplayer game as much do I find it very time consumming!

1 new option!
The Tournament! This resolve about an option to drop the Map and only having the battles. I know this can be a hard concept to accept because the Map is so much of the game! But I think there is posibilitys in this!

An exsample: On a special tournament menu (to show up if choosing that kind of multiplayergame) , players are an given 5 minutes to purchase an army and some artifacts (from some starting cash) and are then going straight to a battle screen, fighting the battle and game is over!

I would love to have that option for a ½ hour onlinegaming! To keep the game flauvor, the choise of town have to set the range for the creatures availible for purchace!
This is much like a game of chess but with the ability to purchace your pieces pregame! Some limited randomness,in artifacts available for purchaces,  and in creatures available would probperly be neccesarry to give the purchace some challance. It is after all is an time saving option instead of the whole building and exploring we like in the original game.

There could be a varius number of tournaments around this consept!

The challenge – after first battle the looser are allowed to buy a new army and artifacts! The winner can exchange artifacts but would have to play with the same creatures (maybe one creature stack exchanged) and then next battle goes on!

The Cup: This is an online cup tournament to be finished in an evening- fixed armys but maybe with prizes (winning artifacts to be able to use in next battle).

The division: All to play all: Again with fixed armys (or not!)

Last man standing tournament !  Only 1 army purchased , only surviving troops participate in next battle!

And more !

3DO or this gaming community could have rankings, ladders and so on based on this!

Number 2 new multiplayer option:

Let players could play the same map from the same starting position for a fixed time (2 hours!) or a number off turns(like 1 game month (whatever suits the game best) but they play in  different games. And when times up the different games are put together and  heroes with army is transfered into a battle section game and an endbattle is fought!. Think about this like a closed map, but where the gamesettings is deciding when time is up for the final battle!
This gives first the posibility not to have to wait for each others turns, but still compeating. Who is best builder or most daring explorer? In it self, not much else than some timesaving  is gained by this except for the measure off skill as both have been on the exsact same map in the exsact same position ! But even though it saves time in it self its sure not going to be as fun as the real game! But still its an option not requirering alot from 3D0/NWC to do. And it does open for the possibility that  most of the game can be played at different time!

Number 3 new multiplayer option.
The Multiple User online Homm world!

Why not make a multiple user Online World for Homm5 ! Where every player have a little kingdom and can go to war against the others! Using either one off the two earlier multiplayer ideas it could be possible to have an ongoing world where people could have regular, not too time consuming conflicts! And with the posibility for doing a map time-independent of an opponent and the possible autosolving of a final battle, a online world could keep going, weather players found the time to play same time as each other or not! And still keeping the turn based strategy game as the base!

The real challenge here would be to have people fight on equal terms and by winning battles their kingdoms gained in quality, in a way preparing for new battles and preparing for a grand final conflict. But a lot of speculation about how this could be done and still be in the Homm spirit would get me a little off track for now. Another day if anyone interested?

Maybe a multiple online gaming world is much to hope for, I know! But my experience is that its actual not that far from the games homm3 and homm4 would be very suitible for it! So why not with Homm5.

(a note most off my knowledge and inspiration of this kind of games I have from utopia online games and from running a home made AD&D strategy gaming birthright campaign with 14 players each in there own kingdom!)

with regards

Check Duel Arena

It is a Heroes 4 map that fits into your description well enough.

I just wish they can take the heroes out of combat...it annoys me to watch the general himself jumps in and kicks a stack of black dragon...generals are supposed to command!  If a hero can't command (doesn't learn those tactic), why do you let him lead an army...if so i'd like to see a black dragon leading an army.

Also, they should decrease the power differences between level of creatures.  Now creature of different level have too different power.  It's sorta weird and no fun.

And, personally i find the artifact system of 3 and 4 are less attractive to me than 2.

I forgot to mention, that i would like to see an option where you can turn off the creaure numbers which is above their heads in combat.

I fint this annoying and it would be far batter if you user clicked on the creaure which displays the numbers on the statistics or right click the creature which tells you in a little box how many creatures are left.

idea

I would like very much that in heroes V , in the combat mode, the perspective to be first person, full 3 D.Basically the player to be placed in the skin of a hero of his choice, if there are more than one heroes in his army (also to be able to swap between heroes) and to view the battlefield as in Might and Magic series for the duration of the combat. Also, his army should be something like a party in RPG games. This , together with some great critters objects and some good looking 3 d spell effects and background , would be the best experience ever.It would be like M&M in HMM .Also a strategical view of the battlefield should be available and of course the user will be able to choose his type battle mode : 3d , normal 2d and quick combat.
I am sure that this will make any battle more fun , and the  castle assaoults more realistic .Even a fight with some pesants will be more exciting and interesting. ALso this way, 3do would not be accused of not follwoing the 3d trend that is on nowdays.
I am sure that the ppl at 3 do can improve this idea a great deal  and you , the ppl on this forum also.
PLease let me know what you think about this.

to 3d or not 3d? this is the question actually this was a HUGE thread, debating over wether heroes would be 3d or not. From what I know, homm5 will be using the homm4 engine which means it`s going to be 2d. Nothing wrong with the isometric perspective to me, it works well in battle, but I would like a 3d view like in neverwinter nights, zooming on your heroe etc.. I don`t know if a first person view would be much use though, it`s not easy to command your units like that as you`ll have to switch all the time (the computer will switch automaticly but still). But i`d like to see archers or heroes taking elevated positions.

Well, the combat mode is the one where the spellsare cast and so on and I think a 3d perspective here would be of a great effect : Imagine seeing a fireball 3d and so on.
Also makeing only combat mode 3d should be easier (considering that they have the M&M engines) than moving to 3d in the world map.Yes, I agree that zooming and so on would look great but it is harder to acomplish.

Anyway we hope for versions above V so ...
