Why would you want to control?
Do you wisnowh you had some control over people? In anyway, do you wish for status over them? Human's, are equal in many way's, but our spoonfed system has many positions for people to have control.
Some position's are aquired by skill. Some positions given for other reasons.
Why do you want to be boss? Why do you wanna be the GM/DM, or the MOD? The buisness owner, the coke lord.. ECT What is it in us empty humans, that we try to take control of the scene?!
My reason for this question, is a little strange. I'll leave it at "I'm interested in your opinions"

I want control I guess, but what I want more is freedom.
Once I have complete freedom, control will become irrelevant to me.

I want to be the supreme ruler of the world, so that I can passively let people do what they see fit, and only intervene when injustices are brewing.
There´s so much wrong with the world (slavery, crime, suffering) that could be fixed. Also, power attracts chicks!

If I can controll all people on land...i'll let most people perish (peacefully, like suicide?). If they are that annoying. Smaller community is always better, since there's no more dangerous species on earth now.

Why would I wan't to control smbd?
I'm not sure but I believe its a kinda instinct or something,that everyone wants to get in control.
Also,everyone wants to be better than the other guy,and power over that other guy makes you kinda better than him.
I must,however,agree with hey you.
I also seek freedom and independance rather than power because power,besides attracting chicks,attracts problems.
Although the need for more power is a common issue and is not always a bad thing,after all,we'd all be doin better if there was a wise leader commanding us.

I don't want to be any of those. I'd rather play than have to come up with the story as a GM/DM. It's no fun for me to have to make the game more interesting and fun for all the players. I prefer to be the one playing.
A mod (forum mod?) has to read every post in every thread in the forum, and make sure everyone's playing nice and following the forum rules. And somehow they need to have people skills because who wants to be a disliked mod? The other forum I visit has hundreds of users and new threads/debates come up every hour. I'd hate to be a mod there.
I don't want to be a business owner. Can you imagine the kind of pressure that's put on you? Your company looks to you for leadership and guidance. You can't just slack off, you have to maintain everyone's morale. If you want to succeed, you have to keep an eye on the market and be competitive. If you stop going to work, not only will you lose your income, you'll also lose out on your bank loan plus interest, which you probably haven't even paid off yet.
As for being a coke lord... I just bought GTA: Vice City. It's fun, but I sure wouldn't want to live in a place like that. I'm paranoid enough as it is, without being a high profile target for hired guns of competing mob bosses.
Power is over-rated. You appreciate life more, the less you have.

Hm, You think it's control we are really are after?? How about a position of greatness over all men?.
You see, the reason ppl like an unmentioned HC member (worst thread maker--prime example) would want modship, is because they'll feel they have a placement of respect and acceptance. See, what you want to be in your cohearent dreams is something you respect in real life. You might want comradary or power.
So anyways, before I make you think I'm standing to high I'll bring myself down and say something you cant hear.

I've had two x-husbands that have wanted to control me. Having survived that, I have no desire to control any one person. However most people aspire to be in a position of leadership, being as a admin/mod on a messageboard, or in real life at work. Not everyone has the ability, or knowledge to achieve this, but I thing most people should be given the chance to at least try. As a parent, of course you need to have control over your children, but at the same time teach them to be independant, so that they will be able to make the right choices in life.
