Necromancy Ward!!!

I was in a tough battle the other day when I got a rude shock.  I did not know previously that the third level nature magic spell Necromancy Ward, "affects all units, dead and alive, prevents raising of creatures eg... skeletons, ghosts, vampires, and prevents Animate Dead spell from haveing a target", what I didn't know is that this affects creatures that have already been raised!!!
You would think that they would warn you about that.

I know what you mean about learning as you go.  But learning in that kind of situation is really frustrating.
I mean come on, isn't it enough that it stops you from casting anymore of them?  Does it really have too take what you have already raised?
You don't see that when you cast a ward on a hero, after a couple moves of the battle have gone, him or her gaining energy back that they already lost when they didn't have it.  It should just make it so you can't make anymore!

Actually, it was a rather pleasant surprise from my perspective...

Now your casting of the spell "Mire" on the adventure screen at me really freaked me out! I thought my heroe's game was doing some wierd stuff as a prelude to bombing to the desktop and then possibly melting down my computer, lol. If you hadn't mentioned what you had cast, I still would be scratching my head wondering why my grandmaster pathfinding dude went only about 8 hexes the next turn....

In a related story: I ambushed my second solo barb player last night. Twice I've had an opponent who has said, "bye bye to your army" only to have his buffed up hero unceremoniously dumped in my jail. These players just don't understand that it is time to run and get help when someone shows up with an order mage, a death mage, a tactics hero, and all lvl 3 and lvl 4 creatures. Now he was surprised

No offense but the Mire spell says what it does right in the text.  Now the Necromancy Ward does not say that takes away all that has already been raised.

No, no, broche', that would ruin my book usually  Though often you pretty much know the end before you get there nowadays it seems,

I think you must be drawing a parallel that knowing some good experienced things like this might ruin the game maybe?  If I read you correctly, I don't see a comparisson at all.

I liken the matter unto drinking poison.  I don't feel I need to drink poison to know it kills me.  Hence I rather not put myself up for getting whacked by the ward spell in the circumstance mentioned above to know I should be on guard against it or use it myself rather then some other spell with the new knowledge.

Well I am more philisophical about that loss now, but right when it happened I was kicking myself for not knowing about it.  I mean if I had known what it did I would have been using different spells.  Sure it can't take away the damage your raised things have already done but to make it so that you know longer have to worry about them is annoying.  Even if you dispell that ward the creatures don't get to come back.

Got to admit that if the situation had been reversed I would like that spell better.

Hmmm.... I am wondering now if Salpinx actually knew that that spell would have the effect it did or if he flooked into it...?  It would probally make me feel worse if it was a flook though I can't say why...lol.
