Cheap Tactic?

Played wpaxson on hourglass 3 today.  We both had castle and he got 9 archangels to join, all i got was 4 titans and some level 6s.  He had 34 spell power with implo, ressurect, i had 14 spell power, chain lightning and air orb, as well as his castle week 3 day 2.  he didnt mind i stay in his castle and he attack me.  I antimagic my 5 archangels so they dont die from his wicked spell power.  I take out all his troops he takes out my titans and some change.  Now, I blind his archangels, Defense all, let towers hit his archangels, (I have +3 extra speed all troops) and i repeat this blinding tactic.  If he gets a chance to caste a spell, he'd ressurect 7 archangels a pop.  Was it cheap of me to keep blinding like i did?  There was NO OTHER WAY i could win that game unless i used that tactic.  Paxson won't play me again because of it.

If things were exactly as u described them, I think your tactic was perfectly ok.

May be its may wicked lawyer thinking, but I see it this way: if ppl want certains rules to be applied, they make an agreement about it. In other words, if u don't specially agree on the rule, there is no rule.

This is the reason, why there are "no necro" or "no dd/fly" rules around. Some players (e.g. Hexa) have a rule "no siege fighting". If u both agreed to such a rule then u shouldn't have a siege fight. Otherwise - there are no "cheap tactics". Instead there are tactics that works, and tactics that don't.

Of course, as long this is a tactic not cheating. But thats not the thing we are talking about here.

i remeber i had a similar game i surrendered after my opponent started this tactic cause after 20 minutes of blind reblind and no nd in sight i was simply bored. - not to mention he would have run out of spellpoints in aprox 1-2 hours and i still would have won (i had such a amount of troops towers could not shoot down in 3 years ) but i didnt wanna waste my time waiting

is it cheating ?  not even close lol - its a absolutly legal tactic. maybe not the "nicest" one but a battlefield is no childs playground

Also I think it's worth mentioning that it's not a fun way of ending a game...especially not a long game...such as hourglass......

Anywyas, u had the choice between losing or using that non-fun but legal tactic.....and u know: "Everything is allowed in love and HOMM "

is siege combat honorable?

I also had a similar situation some time ago when i played with Hexa. He did better start then me, outbuilded me and was near my castle somewhere around day 20. In open battle I would not have a slightest chance. Yet I was in castle and he decided to attack. Most of his army were ground troops so arrow towers took out the biggest part of his army and i did lose almost nothing. He paid for his remaining troops and after this battle we agreed on "no more siege fights". However now I had an advantage of troops and I won the game. Hexa claimed that I played without honor by sitting in castle and at the end we almost said really bad things to one another

On the next day with cooled heads we concluded peace treaty and so this story should not be in any way regarded as my complains against Hexa. He is cool dude and thats it, hehe And, Hexa, if i explained the situation wrong, please correct me.

However, the question in principle remains - can player use all the things that are in game, if there is no rule set before?
My point is that foxy blinding, siege combats, armaggedon or whatever else is the part of the game. If u are good player, u should foresee all the consecvencies of your actions.

However, i'm pretty sure that there are various opinions about this topic. So, any comments welcomed

When it comes to combat tactics, I think everything should be allowed..........

Although someone might disagree, I think a rule like "no sieging" is kinda lame........that's the point, it's supposed to be hard to attack towns...

Sure I agree, if you don't have the chance to win in a siege battle, then don't attack ...

After all, I don't know the way to gain more experience for your heroes inside the town everydays...

you can take their mines, their skills buildings, take all

all sounds fine to me.

blinding? try reberserking a stack, works just as well and can hit the stack with all ya troops too

sieges give the defender an advantage in strength, but a HUGE disadvantage too, you can get completely killed (with exception of stronghold).

I think that blinding is one of the best tactics. maybe you should berserk him to make an extra damage.

its all good

hi there, i was plenty upset of what had happened to me.i think the only reason why was the game had lasted so long and i was sure i could beat him when i attacked i made a big mistake in battle and i payed for it.would i use this tactic? nah i wouldnt do this. i might sit in the town if i had no offense, however there was no rule made at the beggining so i will just say congrats killa u outsmarted me.you learn somethin new everyday in this game even after 5 years of playing it.things that were said in the game can be left between me and killa and noted as temporary insanity i guess.

ok so since uyou posted your opinion here does that make you more of a man? i think not.
when i said its all good i simply meant that yeah i was pissed but had gotten over it.i think i played a good game  i had a stronger army and my hero was comparable to his  with 46 defense. with 46 defense i wouldnt have to sit in a town or even ask my opponent if i should.

Personally, if I had 34 spell power with implo, ressurect, and town portal I wouldnt mind if my opponent trapped himself inside a castle :-)

(Just a side note) This is beginning to sound like protests against the necromancy skill. But let's not go there today. I don't want to sound like a broken record when I say that if your forces aren't considerably bigger than those in a garrison you want to attack, your probably not going to win because humans are much smarter than the computer. If atleast most of your forces can't even reach the enemy or shoot at the enemy behind the wall, your gonna lose a lot of troops, which is what really puts flyers and archers above foot soldiers in the "recruit creature" list.

Kudos Killa

Way to pull that game out, Brutha!  That was probably your one and only remaining chance to win that game, and your opponent made the mistake of not seeing that move coming; therefore, he deserved to lose that game.  Cheap tactic? Nope.  Great win?  Yep.  I would be proud of that victory.  As for your opponent, well, I am sure he would not be so bitter, nor would he have felt guilty, if the roles were reversed.  Peace out!
