Races?
This is really a suggestion for a add-on for any HoMM game, not specifically for HoMM5.
One thing I've always missed in HoMM, is the possibility to play with RACES instead of ALIGNEMENTS. As an example, it would be cool to see a town type where all the creatures were dwarves, like Battle Dwarf, Dwarfish Mage, pluss the good old Golem and the new Dragon Golem, which I always thought must be made by Dwarves.
Similary, it could be a town with only elves, humans (like HoMM4 Life, without angels), elementals (Conflux?), and of course the undead city, with Skellies, Vamps, Ghosts and Bone/Ghost Dragons.
It could also be cool with a town where all the creatures were different kind of Drakes, ranging from the small Swamp Dragon (Discworld, anyone?) to the omnipotent Black or Noble Dragon. Heroes of this town could be the good old Warlocks, or similar.
So what do you think?

Yay! That way, while someone may dislike all 5 towns from HoMM4, everyone is bound to have a fav in the upcoming game .

MODERATOR WARNING!!! Do not call other names! Consider yourself warned.
You also misunderstand the idea, which is quite good.
Each city is associated with a race, and the creatures are either of that race or creatures allied to the race (You can find many examples of alliances in Age of Wonders 2). The inital poster even gave same examples like dragon golems being in the dwarf town.
The main importance of race here might for instance be that the heroes you recruit would be of the race of the town and not all be humans. That would allow for proper portrayal of heroes in their animations.
If you for instance take the Rampart in Heroes 3, and try to build a race around elves, then you might decide try something like:
Nymphs, Spites and/or Leprechauns (allied races)
Centaurs and/or Satyrs (allied race)
Dryads, Treefolk and/or Dendroids (allied races)
Unicorns (Allied race)
Forest based good Dragons (allied race)
The elves themselves would give perhaps 3 of the slots like the following:
Elven shooter
Pegasi Riders (It was elves riding those Pegasi in H3)
Elven spellcaster

Thank you, Djive.
Nice suggestions on the Elven city, though in that one I had only imagined there to be Elves. But the Pegasi was a wonderful suggestion. I had acctually forgot that one.
Any other suggestions?

What would it be called?
Heroes of Racial Segregation?
Heroes of the Master Race?
Heroes of Ethnic Cleansing?
Kidding, of course. I sort of like the Heroes series for being the ONLY fantasy wargame that separates armies thematically rather than racially. It's nice being the dwarves (the race I normally pick), but there's really something to be said about groups of creatures living together in harmony and working together to brutally slaughter the rival harmony living consortiums.

we all know that disciples had this kind of races...so this game must be different...in this game many creatures live so it would have to give up many of them...that would make many people complain cause heroes tries to put every creature in its place so it would change the whole thing...
maybe you should wait for disciples 3.

desciples was a good game, heroes can learn a few thing (few being key word) sure it was way to short and you couldnt lose main town 99% of the time, and you could lose your heroes WAY TO EASILY! a few things could add greatly to heroes. i.e. summoning armies on adventure map to attack heroes. would be neat

Also good from desciples
Also it would be nice if the terje_the_ma...'s suggestion about racial based towns will be accepted together with the nice feature that desciple series offer: destructive spellcasting on the world map. This way, scouting skills and so on will become very important, also weaker staks that have lots of movment points can be used as "eyes far" and enable the hero to cast a spell in remote locations.
Ideas about elven based castle: along with he ones so far, wich are both nice and interesting:
I would go for two spellcasters :
- one "light elf" that is specialized on defensive spells like healing useing the nature recycling energy (inspired from nanymud - anyone likes it?) and also benefical spells like barkskin(stoneskin) and so on
- a "dark elf" - a spellcaster that does damage with his spells -> poison, blast and other forest related damaging thingies
Here , it would be nice if you can only choose one of them (like in h4 - if u choose magi, you won't have golems and so on)
Also, the "light elf" - the one with protective spells can be in fact the elves on pegasi that Djive suggested.
Also you can have a third spellcaster specialized in shape shifiting -> the druid: wouldn't it be nice to have a spellcaster that can change into a tiger, wolf or bear with bonuses to attack damage and so on?
